2006 Mazda 5
My 2006 Mazda 5 AT just tripped two codes: P2107 & P0638. The car is now in limp mode and no power when throttle is pressed down, it will just drive at idle speed. I know the codes refer to an Internal fault with the Throttle Actuator Control Module Processor-and Throttle Actuator Control Range/Performance on 1 ccm. I cleaned up the Throttle Body and checked harness/actuator connector for any signs of damage.. I also cleared the code and did battery disconnect. Engine light not on anymore but car still just idles in gear. When in park throttle will rev to 3K rpm without a/c on, 2K rpm when A/C is on high. Is this probably more a PCM issue or throttle body/sensor issue?
I'm hoping for someone that knows these codes and had success fixing the problem. Please help, I want to avoid going to the dealership if I can.

**Just tripped a new code P0101 as I was playing with the throttle- MAF sensor

I can't help you with codes, but I'm sure someone will come along shortly with some answers.

Good luck. Let us know how it turns out.

All codes are available on alldatadiy.com (I just checked them), including the relevant diagnostic procedures. You need a subscription to view the information, but that costs less than 10USD per year.

I noticed the throttle actuator control module on the throttle body makes a high pitch buzzing sound when key is in the on position and a quieter buzzing noise after you turn off the engine for about 30-60 seconds. Can anyone out there confirm that their Throttle Body/Actuator Control Module does the same thing.

I think I just set the MAF sensor off when I disconnected it from the harness and took the air tube off the throttle body. Since then I cleaned it and reset the code and it hasn't come back- Air Flow is in spec now

Still have not had the P2107 and P0638 codes come back since doing a full throttle body clean, all it did was allow a little more rpm's when I press the throttle and the car will drive faster through all the gears. My obdII reader does not pick up any change in the throttle-about 16% constant- If the codes don't come back, does that rule out a PCM failure, and lean more more to a faulty throttle actuator/position sensor?

My Mazda 5 is now at our loxal Mazda dealer and they can't figure out anything. They are talking with Mazda now. Does.anybody know what Mazda doss in these situations and what my rihts arr if they can't fix it?

I'm sure they can fix it - but it may cost big bucks :-(. If it's the ECU - it should be still under warranty unless you have more than 80,000 miles. I'm surprised the dealer can't pin point the problem on their diagnostic equipment. I believe the car puts itself into to "limp" mode - so they should be able to read out the problem. I'm curious to see what they come up with.

Two full days and they have come to decide it is in fact the PCM! Don't know why it took so long because the codes tell them to check the PCM. Can anyone out there confirm that the PCM for the Mazda 5 is on the side of the battery box? The service advisor didn't know.

PCM is on the side of the battery box. Just changed mine... how much do they charge there? mine has L3P618881H.

Finally got my Mazda 5 back since I last dropped it off on Memorial Day. They found two other codes on the PCM P2119 and P0507 that my cheap OBDII reader didn't pick up. Now I have a new PCM, L3P8-18-881R-0P, they put in new spark plugs and a circuit relay which they didn't charge me for. I was quoted $1150 but got them down to $985 with their 15% coupon. This price included the install and reprogramming, and their full service inspection, which they told me my front suspension had a clunk and the breaks had a shutter, duh I already new that can you be more specific please!

So far the car is running great, although it does feel a little less powerful off the line-I don't know if the updated reprogramming changes that for fuel economy. I could have saved about $200 ordering the PCM from other dealers across the country, but it was going to add at least another week of waiting and I still needed it to be reprogrammed so I was forced to have the dealership do it all.
