2003 protege5
hey waz up peeps i just got a question who would win a civic or a protege5 i got a protege5 and one of my friends said he will kick my ass with his civic so would I kick his, all will kick my. this what both cars have.

2002 civic coupe non-vtec manual 1.7 liter
custom intake
custom exaust

2003 protege5 auto 2.0
stock

but if he tweaks his car right the day before u race he has a bigger chance of winning :D

Civic's got manual transmission, so it'll start quicker but protege will catch it up and win for sure. :D civic's got no torque lol

"Vtec" or not, its a slow ass car. Single cam vtec is a damn joke. Make sure he buys you lunch afterward.

toyota echo = 108hp
civic non vtec = 117/115hp
civic EX = 127hp - this one might be tough for u to beat
protege 5 = 130hp

hm.... i think the numbers tell the story.....

also i don't get why so many ppl think the civic is such a good car??! look at the price for a LX or DX, its at least like 2k more than the echo.... and you only get 9hp more.....

i thought the auto will have advantage for the first 20ft cause it doens't have to lose time switching from 1st to 2nd gear.... after that the manual should catch up... assuming that you are comparing two idential cars but one is auto and one is manual

Torque....

I've raced a 5spd EX from a light up to the top of 2nd. I pulled the whole time, slowly and pulled the most up top. I had a passenger (280lbs), he was alone. Both BONE stock. I put a car or so on him and was still pulling.

Sorry, but you don't stand a chance. Even with a few less horses, his manual will get him to 60 in a little over 9 seconds, and that's with no mods. The auto p5 is a dog... best 0-60s are over 10 seconds.

I used to own a 2002 Civic EX that was a manual, and now I own a '03 MP5. Quite frankly, I feel like even though it's a small amount of HP over the Civic.. I still feel like for some reason I'm going somewhat quicker than my former car.

However, I've yet to actually race my MP5.. But I used to race my Civic all the time, just for fun even when it was bone stock. From what I noticed, the Civic's best power was around 4,000 - 4,5000 RPM mainly mainly 'cos that's when the VTEC kicked in.. If you can even call it VTEC on a SOHC.

It's worth a shot, but I wouldn't waste my time if I were you. For gods sake, it's a Civic! Everyone's Mom and Grandpa owns one!

You might have a chance since you have a triptonic sport automatic and not just a plain auto w/ the overdrive button. I think you will own that civic manual or not it's a damn non-vtech 1.7 Liter how fast can that POS be. Wow it has a custom intake and exhaust big ******* wopdido I think you will be able to beat it.

I know someone who has a civic. Forgot what year but he got it cheap. The rest of the money was dropped into a JDM K20 engine and tranny. He didn't tell his buddies about it. Just said the car was in for a "rebuild". Besides the rims it's a stock sleeper. He made a lot of guys look really bad (nuts)

it may be a close one, but the echo may even beat you if not keep up, it only weighs 2000lbs and has 108HP
