Hi everybody. Bittersweet day. In 1999 I bought my "dream" truck, and first new vehicle.A 2000 black Dodge Dakota SLT extended cab 4.7 V8 4x4. 2 miles on the clock. Just traded her in with only 37896 miles on her. Toward the end, the stuff that was going wrong with it was driving me crazy. First off the paint....(thanks Dodge and the EPA for that). Went from a black beauty to a "depending on what side you look at it " paint job. You have all seen it, I'm sure. Then brake lines rusting through while driving. It did tell me with the emergency brake and the anti-lock lights on the dash. There must not be a dash light for "oh by the way, your about to be screwed". And the last straw was the power steering pump deciding to spit all the fluid out. Why would you want to turn? So after 12 years...I gave up on her. Even after all that, I'm still left with a bit of a pit in my stomach.
I am now the owner of a 2007 Mazda CX-7 with 56K. I read up on the horror of the VVT belt, but was assured that if it does go, it is covered under my lifetime (as long as I own it) engine and power-train warranty, providing I do all regular scheduled maintenance with a ASI certified technician. No big deal, as I don't have the time to work on anything anyway, and the dealer is 7 minutes away. About as far away as my home to work, hence the low mileage on the truck.
Sorry about the long "intro" but I am open to tips and advice. Not looking to do much if anything to it except perhaps a remote start. I do need to get a new key, as it only came with one. I hate to say it but this is the most UN excited experience buying a car. Must be my age, and the gutted feeling of getting rid of my truck, but now it's just a way to get to work. I have my 2012 Triumph Street Triple R for fun.
Again, any tips appreciated,
Ken
