i was gonna put these on my protege 5, they are 17" new with no tires. Would 205/40/17 be ok? or i need a wider tire.

and wheres the best place to get the grill delete plastic grills? dealer? because one of my fogs are broken and i like it better with no fogs.

thanks guys, getting the car tommorow

Not sure of the specs on the wheels as I can't view ebay from work. What is the width and offset of the wheels? As long as they are 7" wide with a +42 offset you should be ok.

As for the deletes....go here.

Awesome customer service and pricing!

If those wheels are off of the Mazda6 you might want to watch out for clearance issues. IIRC, the Mazda6 wheels have a really high offset and may rub the inner fender liner and/or suspension bits. 205/40R17 will fit assuming the wheels are 7"-7.5" wide. 215/40R17 is closer to the stock 195/50R16 height (almost exact in fact).

the guy said there are for a mazda 3.. but they look like 6 rims

The stock Protege 5 wheels are 195/50R16 and have an offset of +50 mm and I think they are 6" wide wheels. I'm not sure of the width of the Mazda3/6 17" wheels but I'm fairly certain the offset is +60 mm which puts them closer to suspension bits. If the wheel is wider than stock you might run into some issues. I have the 17x7 MSP Racing Harts on my P5 which have a +55 mm offset and I rub the inner fender liner in the back when loaded down.

IIRC the Mazda3 17" wheels are 17x6.5 with a +52.5 offset and the Mazda6 17" wheels are 17x7 with a +60 offset.

To run the 6 wheels you will need 5mm spacers and I know that liquid_ag is running the 3 wheels with a 215/45/17 tire w/no issues lowered.

spacers just for the front? or all around. If i dont get the spacers right away it will just rub? or other damage can happen

heres the part numbers for the fog deletes...

Well..I ordered these from Jasone at Montgomery Mazda....and this is what I got

And yes..look at the Part numbers..mine were the correct numbers as I have been saying all along..and notice how they came individually....Jason just makes them a packaged pair.
And his price absolutely cannot be beat..Period.

But now we know exactly that these are the right ones.
Mystery solved.

With 205/40/17s your speedo will say 60 but really is 60.7 & with 215/40/17s your speedo will say 60 but really is 59.6. The 215s are a bit closer but neither is 1 full mph off from stock at 60. Kinda depends on how much the car is lowered, the offset of the rim, the 215s will be more comfortable but 205s will perform slightly better as far as steering. Depends on your cars setup & it's intended purpose.

I am on my second set of 205/40/17 tires on mazda 3 wheels. I have not had any issues. Stock springs though.

I think you have those switched around. 215/40 is the taller tire :D
