Mazda 3 Engine vibration

I have a Mazda 3 with the 2.3L engine and it has developed a vibration that can be felt through the clutch pedal at around 2100 RPM. The vibration is felt when the car is stopped so it is not drive train related.

I've had the car into the dealer and they agree there is a problem but are not sure what it may be, so they are checking with the Mazda tech line.

What I'd like to know is has anyone else had such a problem, and if so what was it?

Where can I find more information on the Balance shaft that is installed in these engines.

I bet its a problem with a motor mount or something. However this probably isnt the best forum to post this in, mazda3 would be better.

I think this is just an engine harmonics thing that has been accentuated by soft motor mounts.

is it basically just that mild 20hz shimmy? I'm wondering if it is more serious if the dealer agrees that it's a problem... but I've seen many people talk on the forum about a round-2000 wiggle that only seems to happen with idle revving (IE, they don't notice it when the car is actually in gear and moving)

at which point, if the slight shake bothers you when you are running the motor out of gear at 2100 rpm... don't run the motor at 2100 RPM at idle...

The dealer also tells me it's normal, but my concern is that I never noticed it until I had approxitmately 12000 K on the car. I do feel the vibration throught the clutch pedal when driving. I'll have a closer look at the upper engine mounts and make sure that one didn't split because of the cold.

Yep after not having my car for a month (and driving 2 difrent brand cars) I felt vibrations on accel that I guess I got use to way before it went down. intake didn't add any vibrations but exhaust just might.

i have the same problem

I have the same problem. I have found the problem but no solution yet. It is the passenger side motor mount. If you look at the inside of it, you will notice that the inner mount rubs the outter bracket. The dealership wants nothing to do with the problem. If you find a solution please reply.

thanks

Thanks, I'll take a look at the mounts, and bring them to the attention of my dealer. I'll let the group know what happened.
