1991 929s
I recently purchased a '91 929s that has 126,000 miles and is in absolutely beautiful condition. I bought it from from the estate of the previous owner, who had obviously babied the car. However during the test drive I pulled over to the curb to turn on the a/c and when I began to pull away from the curb the car died and will not start now. There was no bad noise (actually the engine sounded awesome) or any other sign that the engine locked up, but that's what I've been told I have. We checked the a/c pulley and it does turn but the engine will only turn a little in either direction (forward or backward), so I am afraid that the mechanic may be right, but I am hoping someone here could give me some direction on getting it started, repaired or know of someone who might be interested in it and have the ability to repair it themself...I'm afraid that it may be beyond my ability. Thank you for any thoughts or suggestions.

Thanks for the reply. It quit before I bought it...but let me tell you it ran smooth, quiet and it purred - I didn't think it was anything too serious - maybe an electrical issue or something similar because the engine sounded so great, the oil was clean and in fact the entire engine was clean. But the car had been garage for five years...one mechanic said that rust may have formed on a valve some other internal part, but that seems hard to believe. I paid $1,000 for it and although in looks unbelievable, I guess I'm going to sell it to a junk yard.

Have you checked the cam belt, if it lets go at low rpm you might miss the noise and the engine could be stuck on the valves etc (it's just a thought)
