From my experience, $165 is not outrageous. Here is why.
You have two specialty items to paint. You will need an amount of paint matched to your own. This involves mixing a few paints together until the color is perfect. Its a science. You always make more blend then you need, unless you'd like to run out and have unmatching blends.
Paint labor is usually not as expensive as general labor, however, you need a few layers of paint. You need them to dry, and you need them to last.
Unfortunately, the higher quality costs more- you get what you pay for. If you want a Maaco paint job for $65, take it there. Expect to be dissatisfied. If you want it done right the first time (My motto), get a few more quotes, talk someone down to $130. Thats a deal.
Many paint shops don't want to paint small pieces, so you pay more. Unless you are a professional painter yourself, you'll just have to accept the higher price. You get what you pay for.
