13,760 on Stock Tire? Pretty Cra**y?

I am in search of new tires too. I am going to hit 10k in about a day or two and I am past the wear indicators... :(
What is best stock replacement?

Mine have 15,000 and probably will go another 5,000. It's all about how you drive it.

Before this turns into a worthless "tire X is good" thread, why not go to Tire Rack and look at some of their OBJECTIVE tests?

There are not a lot of choices unless you switch sizes. 225/40/18 has quite a few to pick from on tirerack and discount tire direct. Just depends on how much grip you are willing to lose as far as how long they will last. (typically) The stock treadwear on the bridgestones we have are only 140AA. Thats really soft and fast wearing compared to something in the 280-300+ range.

Ehh, the treadwear ratings aren't exactly reliable either. I've had "400" last 12,000 miles, while a set of "320" went 20,000. It's useful when you're comparing tires within the same brand, but beyond that they're kinda worthless.

Tire Rack's website generally has owner reviews with how much mileage they got.

In general, sticky tires wear out faster.

i will take all the tires you guys are getting rid off (if free) with only 13,000 or even 15,000 miles , if they are in good shape . pm me if interested , ill pay for the shipping or i'll even pick them up my self if within 100 miles from 02908. they can be 215/45/18, 225/40/18, 235/(30,35,40)/18 (hah)(hah) (mj)

Lets do some recycling

I will be ordering new ones this weekend. I was thinking Falken Azenis RT-615. What do you guys think? By the way, I got about 18,000 miles out of my first set (with rotation) and they are dangerously past the wear marks.

You can get better wearing tires, but then you will probably sacrifice grip, sticky tires never last long. I 've worked in the tire industry for years, my reccomendation (what i'll be getting when my stockers wear out) Would be Hankook RS2's in 235/40/18, er...once you get wider wheels that is....

They'll last about the same, maybe slightly longer, but they are way cheaper and grip a bit better, and they look kinda cool too!

Azenis is super sticky in the dry, but they wear out fast and are scary in the rain.

Check TireRack for some good reviews. The Kumho Ecsta SPT keeps making a good showing there, offering great dry and wet performance with reasonable wear rates.

My OeM traction went away along time ago. I'm at 14,500 and after rotation at 8 I got nothin left. Banana peel perf with tread showing. even though they look um ok.

I'm at about 10k, and my fronts are already 60% gone, i'm going to rotate, but i'm looking for new tires at this point.

you guys are crazy, I have 23k on them and rotated them once and I guarantee you until I hit 35k at least I wont be changing them. I live in southern california so rain is never a factor but they wear ok as far as I go. I have done at least 20-30 full throttle acceleration runs but no real cornering so maybe thats why. Not looking forward to dropping 8 bills to replace them but i will stick with the potenzas.

You should be rotating every oil change. That's the best way to make those stockers or any aftermarket tire for that matter last.

I guess I wore them out in the canyons, anyway what about a 225/40/18? Will these fit and clear the wells? What other tire options for the stock wheels?

Shope told me to look at the Pirelli Nero tires that are all season as being the best but I need to research it more. They are one of the few OEM sizes for our car.

The Toyo Proxes are nice too but back ordered they said.

Seems this nero tire is a good choice and only $133 a tire. With being all season I would imagine long life as well.

i will be going 225/45/18. i refuse to run a shorter tire than stock. taller is better for performance and MPG. they may rub in the rear if youreally load down the car, but i dont so i dont care !
