have a question so i changed my spark plugs from ngk platinums to ngk vpower i set them on the same gap .30 now i feel a misfire or lag when i raise rpms does the vpowers not work well with these cars?
 
Make sure the boots/coils are pressed or "snapped" onto the plug correctly. Also, was it the same temperature plug u changed over to?
 
That is not the correct spark plug for the Mazdaspeed Protege. Its 1 degree warmer than the factory plug, you need a heat range of 6.
 
I used to run NGK in my protege, but as long as you run the correct plug with a heat range of 6, I am sure it doesnt matter. Are you running factory boost? or do you have the boost turned up to 10+ psi?

Looking at Advanced Auto Parts website, I would go with the NGK V-Power (ZFR6F -11).
 
i find it weird that NGK website only recommend G power and up for mazdaspeed protege

but most ppl tell me V power actually doing better, since the copper tip is bigger, less misfire chances compare to expensive series with mini tip

just have to replace it frequently to keep the performance up. (its cheaper anyway)
 
I was having a problem with green spark plugs, the clowns at autozone said to go with a lower temperature setting of three since then I have had occasional misfires and what seems to be better gas mileage which I'm not sure cause haven't filled up since. Thinking about switching back to my old plugs and seeing if misfire goes away part number is ngk zfr6f gp is that an ok plug
 
NGK ZFR6F is the factory plug for the MSP and in my experience the plug that runs best at stock boost. I am currently running the 1 step colder ZFR7F plugs which are needed if you run over 10psi. If you buy the ZFR6F-11 plugs from the store you MUST gap them to .028"-.032, it's best to get closer to .028" because the electrode tip will wear out and the gap will widen over time.
