11 psi safe?

you'll be fine, if you can get 93 oct just o be safe also its wise to get rid of the stock exhaust (very restrictive) but other than that you will be fine!

I stay at 6.5 PSI daily driving and 10 PSI high boost sometimes... Dont want to blow my engine...

FMIC isn't going to have much to do with it nor would hard pipes..... need to be worrying more about restrictive stock exhaust.

Need to be thinking about wheel hop at that point as well. Pretty fierce at 11psi.

In all honesty theres not much gain over say 9.5psi and 11psi. Better to keep things safe and gradually step things up. Maybe get a downpipe then catback and gradually step your boost up. You'll get better gains that way and quite a bit safer as well.

back in the day when the MSP first came out and Joe P was pretty much the only guy everyone was talking about on the board about boost controller and turning up the boost, i remember some members went crazy and got the trio kit from Joe and decided to run about anywhere b/t 12-18psi daily.

What happen to all those members? Is anyone still running above 10psi with over 25K miles on there car? I can't imagine the motor would blow if you run 11psi daily. It really depends on how you drive the car. I mean, if you boost from every light and redline the damn thing, any motor would want to give way.

But if you drive with some sense and boost to 11psi only when you want to drive a little faster, i don't see the reason for our motor to blow. I think those who run higher then 12psi and have a blown motor is due to the fact that they are always running into boost and they abuse the car a little too hard.

Out of curiousity, some of you mentioned more fuel, does this relate to Joe P's Fuel pressure regulator? If so, how does the FPR work?

However, orangezoom pointed out that he ran 15-18psi for about a year and he's 4th ring went on him. 15-18psi is clearly over boost in my opinion without the proper tuning. If you want to run above 10psi, stay below 13psi and don't abuse the car by boosting it from dawn to dust.

You have already a good set up on your car with the FMIC, Injen and colder plugs. I think your next set is to bolt on a larger downpipe and even a cat back to release some back pressure and you should be just fine!

Pretty much 50% of the people who followed joe p's balls to the wall mentality with boost, ended up with a blown engine. Joe P made it sound like "buy my products @ 14psi, use a K+N drop in filter, and you'll be running 14.2"

Don't run above 9psi with 91octane gas period. At the very least you should be using a can to a can and a 1/2 of octane booster with every fill up.

You'll need a lot more "precautions" than colder plugs and an fcd to run 11psi daily without having some worries in the back of your mind.

Just get unichip and save yourself the headache

FMIC does make a difference
A friend of mine running 11 psi experienced pinging prior to installing the FMIC. After that, the pinging went away

is it safe to boost to 9psi with just the ion turbo back exhaust and colder plugs with octane 91?
It's never safe. If you don't know anything about engine management then get the unichip. It's totally plug and play, and it's much less than a blown motor would cost you. It's been proven that every car on this forum runs differently, so you never know if your car is running extremely rich or too lean for the amount of boost you are pushing if you don't have something to monitor it. Plus, if you have the flash I believe it advances timing at a few points and may lean out the fuel mixture at some places (not sure about that one). Either will lead to detonation with too much boost. You have a pretty nice car, and if you don't have the money to throw around fixing the motor every 20,000 miles then don't boost without any idea of what's going on inside your cylinders and fuel delivery system.
