11 psi safe?

id rather back off the boost a bit than use the oppurtunity to go all out, just my opinion
If that's the case, you should do that before you blow your engine. (chair)

if you blow an engine and come back with anything short of an entirely forged setup, you're an idiot.
Then Im a total idiot for not having enough $$ to get the new motor forged.

I dont understand. The motor can hold boost, mild boost.

if you blow an engine and put a used engine back in the same setup that it was blown in, then yes you're an idiot.

if you lower the boost thats different.... if you're still upping boost then you deserve to have your motor blown again.

Actually some of the MSP ecu's are super lean under 3-4k and pig rich above 4k. I'd love to see how many people run 14+ PSI on stock internals, and keep that boost and then come back on here a year later. Good luck with that one. See all the blown engine threads lately? Might not hurt the car at first, but at some point, something is gonna give. The internals are too weak for alot of boost, especially with the crappy tuning we are provided with. MPI is a very good route to go.

I was considering the Unichip, but the tuning isn't that great yet IMO and too many people are having issues with very large boost spikes, only takes one good 18psi spike on a bad day.

But all our cars are different.

There's being able to make power, and then there's being able to make power safely. 2 VERY different things.

Just my thoughts...

Something to think about is that our engine might be strong enough to hold a higher psi of boost, but everyone on here knows our ECU has been known to vary greatly from car to car. There have been more than one MSP that don't run that rich. So you are the 1 of 20 and don't have a guage to monitor AFR your motor is going boom.

Thats right, I blew my engine because of a bad tune....one pull was rich, next one was lean and boom.
I tried tunning 12psi without knowing much.
Now Im tunning pig rich. 5psi is almost done, so, next level will be 7psi and so on. By the time I reach 10-12psi again, I will have the $ for the forged stuff.

You should look into water/alcohol injection. It will give you more margin for error.
