Yes, the interior of the hose can deterioate and act like a check valve. I've had several vehicles where I've had to replace the flexible section of hose.
At least I know my P5 isn't the only one that sounds like a diesel at idle. If you could find a way to get rid of the tinny sound, it's almost like something is rattling. But of course the most important thing is that you like it.
IMHO, yes. After putting a couple hundred miles on the car the transmission was much quicker to downshift and seemed to upshift later. Of course now that my wife is driving it full time I am sure it'll go back to "drivin miss-Daisy" mode...
Sounds like you are on the right track. Depending on how the car was driven I would suggest a few days of aggressive driving after you do all the work. The transmission in the car I bought my wife had learned the previous drivers lack of urgency and it took forever for the car to downshift...
If you already did the work then keep driving it. But if it is your "nice" car then you might want to change it to beater status and get a nicer "nice" car. Fortunately we don't have to worry about the rot down here.
I had a Jeep that one of the PO's removed the thermostat. It isn't the end of the world to run without one, but there isn't any advantage to it, especially given how cheap a T-stat is.
Mine is pretty much off all the time, but the difference gets bigger the faster I go. I think it is somewhere around 3% off. It won't affect us too much because my wife drives the car most of the time and she drives like an old woman. When I drive it I have my fuzz buster and I just use the...
I noticed that the speedometer reads slow in the wife's P5. I'll be showing 80mph on the speedo but my GPS enabled 9500ix is showing 84. This will mean less miles on the odometer and therefore shorting me on mileage. I was a bit dissapointed by the mileage I got driving home for Christmas, but I...
Why do you have to fish around? Engage parking brake, jack the front passenger side of the vehicle, slide under, access bolt. I took my time and even installed the A/C belt twice and I was still struggling to get an hour out of the job.
