protege5 swap mazdaspeed 2003.5
Hey guys, So I went under the car today and what was initially a fix of a couple holes ended up being a job of replacing the floors(half of the floors were rotten)and laying down sheet metal, fiberglassing and everything, but there is even rust on the subframe and a hole in the metal protecting the gas tank, I don't winter drive the car anymore, but am wondering if it is really worth keeping, the body and engine bay is really top shape, but once you look under you want to cry lol.. So I'm just curious as to if you guys have the same trouble, should I get rid of the car or keep it as a summer daily? The body has 290,000km/180,000 miles and the engine swap has about 55,000 miles! So I would appreciate your input! Around here the car would go for about 4000$ish, so I would need to buy a beater or a 4 season car for 10,000$. I am debating keeping it, but after seeing the undercarriage, I don't know what to do... so I figured mazda guys are the people to ask!

up guys!? I know it sounds like a stupid question but help me out with the decision!

Pass it on to a kid for his first car, and part out the msp stuff. Get a new mazda.

unfortunately it is definitely not worth the effort of replacing the floor, theres a million of these pro5's around

it was my first car haha, but i think i will pass it along and find something a little more solid, theres no match for the sound of that car though, gotta love it, the salt and snow out here just kills these mazdas:(

If you already did the work then keep driving it. But if it is your "nice" car then you might want to change it to beater status and get a nicer "nice" car. Fortunately we don't have to worry about the rot down here.

ya, in canada...not so here...it's really an easy decision, can you afford to buy something else??? if so, go for it!

Yeah! I've been looking around and with 10,000$ there definentally some interesting options! I can guarantee it will be turbo, unfortunately probably not a mazda since they just don't survive here cause used mazdas are rarely seasonally rustproofed:( but i will keep my options open!
