So today i was on my way to school this morning and i got into an accident. =( Basically what happened was this: I was driving on the freeway behind a truck, and the next thing i know a ladder off the truck falls off, hits my front bumper and then i run over it. I somehow manage to SLIDE the car (i say slide because the wheels locked and i couldnt turn them) to the right shoulder. Ugh im so pissed. Basically it got stuck in m front fenders. Tow truck came and took it out and said it was drivable but i didnt want to take any chances and i got it towed home. Here are some pictures.

well good news is your ok. did you get a plate on the truck that the ladder came from or did he even stop? looks mostly like fender damage but who knows what went on underneath the car.

yeah im fine, thanks
and no plate or anything, by the time i realized what happened he was gone. and about the damage, the door is bent, the fender and it looks like also the side skirt.

o man, thats horrible!!!!

sucks about the truck leavin, sucks even more if he realized and just kept going

Oh man, that totally stinks! I hope it all goes smoothly with your insurance company, and that she didn't suffer anything else from what you can see. Here's to you getting the Speed3 back on the road soon...

Stupid people who don't secure things to their trucks (rant)

free ladder! score!

when i see stuff like this it reminds me to stay back from trucks with s*** in the back so i can at least try to move if something falls out. sometimes it doesn't help but the further away you are the more chance you have of avoiding hitting garbage. i cringe when i drive with my gf because she follows everyone close yet doesn't think she does

Glory be, that really sucks.

Bright side: You get to use that insurance you've been paying for.
Dark side: You get use that deductible amount you signed up for.

No, you're rates won't go up, it was not your fault at all. You should have gotten the truck's plate number, it is his duty to properly secure his load.

Here in Georgia, a man was found guilty for manslaughter when the washer he was carrying in his truck fell off and killed a man driving a car behind him.

i was on the highway one time and watched a step ladder fly up and land standing up right in between the two lanes.. luckily i missed it.. sorry about your luck

"Hmmm thats looks like a ladder coming towards me..."

*opens glove box, gets pen and paper*

"So thats 'A1234B', Got it!"

"Ok now I am all set to get hit by it! Good thing I was prepared!"

One time a huge, empty barrel flew out of the bed of a work truck in front of me on the highway. I instintively swerved around it and lucked out that there wasn't an adjacent car in the next lane. I've seen this s*** happen waaaaay too often to even drive near any trucks w/ a payload, no matter how well it may look like it's tied down.

if you had that kind of time you would have stopped or swerved....

glad you are ok.
that's one of my fears when traveling behind trucks carrying s*** outside their cars. I know they have to, doesnt mean I cant fear them?!

did you keep the ladder? People tend to put info on the ladder to avoid having it stolen...

depends on the state but not at fault accidents in many states raise your rates. esp with something like this where even though it's nothing that he intentionally did the ins co could easily say that he was following too closely to have the proper time to avoid the ladder. basically the way to look at it is any time the ins co has to spend money or do work your rate is going up. sucks but for the most part it's true.

Thats what I was thinking. Usually they have the company name.
