'03 P5 & '07 MS3
i went to the dealer yesterday to trade my car ( 03.5 protege5) for a 03.5 msp cuz i have heared alot of good things about the msp. while i was checking out the one and only titanium msp w/ my girlfriend we noticed that everything inside n out is almost the same as my p5 theres is only a couple of things like the silver trim interiors and most specially the turbocharge engine. I ask the salesperson if ican test drive the car b4 i get it he said go ahead and gun it ! so i did redline it 4 times 1st, 2nd, 3rd upto 4,8k rpm
i was impressed this car was way faster than a stock 99civic si 160hp, prelude sh 200hp, integra gsr's.... but i was disappointed. on my second run i felt that its the same speed as my $800 323
so i ask my gurl for her opinion about the speed without mentioning that the car feels like as fast as my 323. here's what she said," hmm...it feels like its as fast as ur 323" i was surprize
when she said that. I know there's a big difference between the price, comforts, looks, etc, between the 323 and the msp but then again u gotta remember i do have my p5 too so my plan it just built my 323 make it more faster since only few people got a 323
and keep my p5 for weekend cruizer.

dont take it the wrong way! I give props on the msp its just the $21,000 for a car thats as fast as my $800 323 i would rather spend more money on my 323 to make it more faster then compete w/ the other msp on the street.(silverp5) :)

323 was a great car, but remember this msp is porkier than 323. that weight saving in your 323 translates into performance. I can't disagree with your personal feeling and that you like the performance per dollar of your 323, (same feeling when you talk to guys with muscle cars). Build up that sleeper and good luck with your car.

Good choice. I think you have alot more potential with the 323. Just think what $21,000 would do for your 323! Keep it stock on the outside and have a sleeper :D

the only thing that im worried of is my tranny and my suspension rite now is nothing compare to my p5 or u guys msp but hopefully i'll be able to upgrade the susp. soon. thx!

dude!

Buy the zx2 tokico struts from oemfordparts.com.
M-18000-Z2 - Tokico Strut Kit $160.00

They're better than the stock shocks by a long shot! Don't let the price fool ya! I bought them, but I'm waiting on some cash so I can buy the mx3 springs (heard the eibach protege springs were a bit too soft). While you're ordering those, buy the front control arm bushings.

What's up with your tranny?

8,000 rpm on a test drive? I'm glad I was the only one to drive my car after the PDI.

$160 for both on the fronts or just one? how about the rear shocks, will it fit?

my tranny? well its ok for now but i heard when i shoot my 50 shot nos my clutch is going to slip so i need to upgrade that, my tranny case might not be able to hold it, the gear ratio is goint to be short so i could just hit my nos on the 3rd gear. I will have to upgrade it to protege lx tranny.

who said about 8k redline ? i dont think it can go up to 8 gran. only 6.5 or 7.5 or something like that. but yeah i had FUN driving that thing specially taking the turns, hehehe....

here's my high 14's civic ex back in 97-01. RIP!

iknow, iknow, u'd say its a rice rocket but back in the days it wasn't. had the graphix b4 they came out with that fast n the furious s***. one of the reason y i sold the civic....

Not to be a tool, but for starters, I'm pretty sure that ALL 3rd gen proteges have a fuel cutoff @ 7200rpm, so there's no way you revved to 8k. Secondly, beating on a brand new car like that isn't cool, regardless of what the dealer says. And there's no way that the MSP is faster than a "200hp" prelude (I don't remember them being 200hp, but i could be wrong).

Aside from that, don't forget that this is a boosted car. You could always crank up the boost and get some more power out of it.

I didn't buy the MSP that I test drove. :D

Neither did I...the salesman took the one we drove up to 90 twice, went blazing around corners at 60, & finished it off with a 60-0 brake test!

I made sure the one I got was brand new: only 8 miles! :D

II-Savy --- are you coming to the kent CT meet.... sept 6th ..info is on the meet section

I know what you mean by wanting more power from the p5 . and I guess with already having a car payment, paying for the msp would not be that much more big of a deal. Your 323 could definetly be faster with a turbo straped on it being as the internals are way stronger than a msp and even if you shoot a 50 shot or 75 shot of nos.. your engine is good.

However the trick side is that with the msp it is better looking/a new car and you know how that goes. My protege and my 323 . the difference between the two is like a isuzu and a 2000 bmw.
If you get my drift.

Wish you the best of luck though .. and just remeber a turbo can be installed on the p5
and it will be Fastaaaaa rrrrrrr

first off who said about revving it up to 8k rpm? read that again then reply!

second my cousin fron reno nevada drives a type sh prelude 200 hp for those who dont know. i beat him all the time with my 323 and he beats me when i drive his sh. I can take him 1 and 1/2 car length on my first and second but by the time i shift my s*** to 3rd
he's already next to me, on my door but im still ahead till i shift it on 4th gear and hit 1/4 mile. I havent race a msp but i did drove 1 and beleive me the torque in those cars are fantastic! unlike the sh its sluggish on the start.

damn bruce! for the first time this is the only post that i got from u without u being an ass! well thanks for all ur help by the way!
and about wut u said. I know wut u mean, no matter wut i do its always gonna be an old car. but here's wut i have to say. I've been there fixin new cars spent $14,000 for modification in 4 years and after time went by my car looked old. everytime they ask me wut kind of car i drive i'd say 97 civic and they'd be like, " oh u still drive that old car?" but it was only 4 years old. Unlike my old 323 its not gonna get any older cuz its already old. and plus new cars are already nice u dont have to make it more nice it'll just lower the blue book value on every modification u do to it.
BTW i saw a turbo p5 today. well it says turboP5 on the liscence plate so maybe it is maybe it aint i didn't see the intercooler tho. so maybe he has intercooler like the msp.

hmmm I say turbo the p5 with a T3 or T25 =your choice. Get a kit if you feal like it ... That may make your life a bit easier. Look at it this way , if you put some springs and some nice wheels on the p5 it will have that nice low stance , that nice rimmed up look and also you will have the speed to smoke damn near anything that has the balls to pull up next to you ...

You already know that I am rebuilding a 1.8 BP that I have for my 323 and putting in 10:0 miata pistons , (if I can find some) and then going with a 75 shot of NOS ....
so that should put me at about 200 to 220 hp ...

hahaha turbo protege 2nd gen and nosed up 323 hatch ...

ohh sorry about being an ass... I have to break in the newbies sometimes ...
