New INTAKE MANIFOLD protegegarage

In case anyone cares:

2001 626 Intake manifold
- part # FS1G13100
- retail $367.20 (new from dealer)

2001 626 EGR Tube
- part # FSJ220310A
- retail $71.80 (new from dealer)

If you have a tax ID for being a repair facility, etc., you should be able to get approx 20% off of those prices which would bring the cost to roughly the same as the PGarage one. Ken's mani is a great deal if it's a new manifold. The whole painting thing makes me think that they are probably used ones that have been cleaned up. Still not too bad of a price though. I'm sure if you are willing to clean and paint, you could find one at a junkyard for a lot cheaper, but I would not try to use an old EGR Tube. Just make sure you check the part # carefully, because junk-yards screw up a lot.

All of the manifolds sold are new. ProtegeGarage no longer sells the cheaper used manifolds.

yeah, we stopped selling used manifolds january of 2006. you get into messy stuff and hassles dealing with salvage yards on these manifolds and often times you don't get the 100% correct manifold.

for $354 our package comes with the manifold, EGR, intake manifold gasket and throttle body gasket. to match that price is pretty hard.

Well sir, you must get a really good price on those manifolds. I actually just ordered one an hour or so ago from your website!

This diagram should help you out, baconbitz. It's not specific to the turbo FSDE, but that should not really matter.

I would do it while im in there but the place where im going to be doing the install is in no way suitable for that kind of work. I dont have access to a garage down here and have to do all my work in a parking lot on campus :)

this manfold takes a lot of s*** that the other manifold had on...which is cool i guess
cant wait to see it in action after i'm done

So any NA dyno results? 1/4 ET improvements? Anything helpful?

a customer of ours in colorado showed about 5whp on his n/a protege. i've heard people say closer to 10 but i have not personally seen the charts to corroborate that.

Ok I got the manifold on and the car started. The problem im having is that the car is running lean as hell (according to my Autometer Air/Fuel Gauge) and stalls out after idling for a little bit. The idle sounds like I threw in a hell of a set of cams in there as well. Any thoughts? One of the injectors looked like it might have been leaking (right at the fuel rail) but I'm pretty sure I got that fixed. Im sooo close to getting this done and taking the car out for a spin, just have to figure this last thing out.

sounds like a vacuum leak. check the following;

- injector orings and seal between the injectors/rail/manifold
- tightness of bolts on head/manifold flange
- tigntness of bolts on manifold/throttle body flange
- vacuum lines/manifold

also, all gasket material from surfaces like the throttle body and head must be removed before applying new gaskets.

Alright, Ill check all of that out tomorow. Right now its dark and drizzling so hopefully the weather will be better tomorow. Worst case scenario do you think I would be able to limp to a shop? Theres a reputable place about 10min from here.

because this is a MAF tuned car, vacuum leaks are going to cause the car to stall and run the way it is now. your best bet is to check everything listed above and seal everything up tight. almost forgot - check the tightness of the EGR tube on both ends as well. i can almost guarantee you there is a leak somewhere causing the rough idle and stalling.
