New INTAKE MANIFOLD protegegarage

can't wait till i get mine.wait..i'm getting something different...i can't remember..dana's doing it. just like his!!

Ok went back out this morning and checked and retightned everything I could find. Turned the car on and there is a terrible whistle type noise coming from something near the throttle body. Im going to pop that off later and hope that maybe the gasket just isnt sitting right or something.

i had the same noise and it was a vacuum leak at the throttle body. when you removed the old gasket, did you shave ALL the residual material off? if not it will cause a leak.

definatly a gasket issue, same thing happened to me,
high pitch squeeling, when i took off the TB i noticed parts of the old gasket were stuck on, with a steel brush cleaned it up nice and then good as new

that or a wire wheel on a grinder works great. some people use gasket removal spray but i find it to be messy and worthless.

Worked on getting any bits of the old gasket off that I could for a while. Got it to what looked like it would work and reattached everything. Turned on the car and it reved all the way to 6k before I could even shut the car off. wtf?!? Over the reving I could hear that the leak was still there so I guess I still have to work on that. Anyway the throttle cable is suddenly far to short and keeps the car at WOT. Im pretty sure I got the Spicy Curse, only my car doesnt crash into stuff, its just very difficult to work on. Any ideas? Im about ready to just have it towed to a shop and let them deal with it.

i think you may have mounted the throttle cable back on the actuator incorrectly from the sounds of it, backwards perhaps? at this point thats all i can think of

I dunno its weird. I dont have any classes tomorow and its supposed to be a bit warmer so hopefully ill be able to figure it out. Thanks sooooooo much for your help so far Ken, I will definately be doing buisness with you in the future.

The car itself (no jinx please) has not had any problems, its just always a b**** to work on. Something goes wrong with everything, the only thing that didnt give me anytrouble was the ipod hook-up.

Well, I finally got it in. Thanks to Ken and everybody else that helped me out with ideas on what to do. All I can say is WOW. Huuuuge difference in the way the car feels. No hesitation (im not flashed) and the car is much quicker. I can spin the tires from a roll in 1st gear and then spin the 1-2 shift. The car pulls hard and smooth. Awesome product at a great price with great customer service.

i cant wait till march when i can pick on of these up. its good to read these problems you had because now i know what to watch out for. any need for upgraded SMIC for this mod? because i am waiting till i get a reply back about the version 2 from turbo hoses

what did you do to make the manifold work?

It had to much of the old gasket left on the throttle body. I removed the rest of the gasket and it started right up. Still dont have a clue what caused the throttle problem but its gone now.

i;'ve having problems getting all these vac lines to match up to the new spots and everything..bah, any diagrams or anyhting on this ken?

i don't know exactly what your problem was but if i have not clearly stated the problem i have had in the past is if you take the throttle wire out and mess with the harness like at all it could cause major rev. all you do is twist the base (black plastic piece with matching arrows) separate and back together and you should sit fine (at least for that portion)
