hks bov install question?

i got my bov today and it says in the directions to put the little black filter on the vac line should i do this or run a straight vac line?

I have a straight vac line but I have a greddy bov, might be the difference in brand, is it a filter or a one way check valve?

here is a picture of it.it says air filter in the little instruction manual that came with it.

if you alrady have it on just leave it, wont hurt anything, i guess it's to keep the valve from getting gummed up or something, or at least prolong it.

yeah it does not stall or anything like i have seen people talking about on the forum.do the inserts they sell for it make any huge diff. in sound the purple and gold ones i think thats what the colors are?
