Kill Switch

I've searched the forums and can't find the answer I need.

I want to make a Kill Switch for my car, but I don't know what wire to splice this into to cut power to my fuel pump.
I have about 10ft of 16Ga speaker wire connected to a simple toggle switch.

Can anyone please tell me how to hook this up?

Le me sheepishly say taht I discovered where this wire runs oneday entirely by accident while doing somehting that's a BIG no-no... FIrst off it's in the cluster of wires that runs down the center "tunnel" on the driver's side. I discovered this while attempting to simply poke a small hole through my carpet to tuck in an amp remote wire. knife through carpet blind (BIG NO NO) spark, car wouldn't start.... fortunately after 3hrs of panic I managed to re-wrap the wire and then located the fuelpump fuse under the hood, and somehow managed to find a spare weird little bastard at 2am.

Asfor which one exactly, couldn't tell you, but if you pop up your rear seat it should become obvious pretty fast,

Bump

I tried testing the leads with a multimeter to see which ones got power when the ignition turned on. all I could find was the white and black w/ pink line wire. I tried both, but the car still started. what gives, am I using the wrong plug? I'm using the plug thats connected directly on top of the fuel pump (I marked it with red)

Anyone have any Ideas or suggestions?

i know this is no help but why the hell would you want to make a kill switch for your car? I'm just really curious, I mean i know motorcycles have them... but on your car?

So no one steals it.

I know if someone want to steal it they will, but this will help prevent it, hopefully.

No power to fuel pump = No driving off with my car

nice thats a very good reason indeed bro...

i installed a kill switch which took all power from ignition.... fuel pump seems to be a better idea.

i also was thinking of buying an inline fuel pump... could i use that to do this? just put a switch on the aftermarket pump?

I was thinking that if the kill switch is hooked up to the ignition, that's usually the place where car theives look.

The fuel pump will be more stealthy (Is that a word?)

The switch should work on an aftermarket pump, just figure out which wire is the power wire and place the switch between there. Now you can place it anywhere in your car.

i'm curious what attempting to startup your car without a fuel pump will do to your engine, seems kinda dangerous, like running unbelievably lean but... well i guess if your not in boost or moving well **** i dont know, nvm, give it a shot bro and let us know, i know that Perrin sells an msp fuel rail...

If you try to start your car without fuel, it won't hurt anything, it is still lubricated by oil, and the valves and everything else are woring like they should, so nothing will break (ie: valves into pistons). Diesels use this method for shutting down everytime, granted a diesel is much different than a gasoline engine, but same concept.

just talked to my mech, he said that it would not do any damage if you tried to start with no fuel.

i got to thinking... could you wire it up so that when you flipped the switch it turned on? to build up pressure before you crank it?
