Q. about tires again

How wide of a tire can we safely put on the stock rims of the RX-8?

No sure about the 8s. Are the stock wheels 7 or 8 inches wide? I'm just guessing, but probably 245 is the widest you'd want to go.

does 245 rub at all? and what height would I have to get to match stock height? And what height would a 235 width tire be? So basically:
225/45 R18
235/?? R18
245/ ?? R18

What do you guys think about this tire?

Junk. All my SRT-4 friends say they wear too quickly and the compound sucks for traction (these are the stockers on SRT-4s).

I would like to give the new RT-615 Azenis a try. I know they will wear quickly, but my past two sets of Azenis for the miata were great all the way thru the tread life.
