....what did you get for your trade?

NADA and Kelly say we should get around 11k but I have found that the dealers around me just get on the phone and call the auction house and ask what they can get for it. (shrug)

I was offered $8,000 for my 2002 white P5, 5psd, sunroof...with about 30k miles on it. Good luck getting 11k

dunno why they'd be calling the auction house for an 02 or 03(uhm)

Probably because if they can't sell it they don't want to be into it for more than what they would get when they sent it to auction. I have a hard time believing it would ever sit on the lot that long though, if it's in good shape. Still 11k trade is pretty high, considering I bought mine a couple of months ago for 11.5K (2002, 5speed, sunroof, 24K miles). Maybe 9K would be more reasonable for a trade in. You almost always get ripped on a trade-in.

BTW - a friend of mine is in the used car business and when I talked with him about Kelly and Nada values he just laughed. I'm not sure dealers give a rip about Kelly, Nada or black book.

i just looked at a dealer and he had an nada book that gave expected auction prices basically, like if all else fails and it goes to auction this is what they expect to get for it. the msp lists at 12,600, but nadaguides.com lists at 14.2. i didn't peak at the p5, but i'd guess it was in the 9's.

When I was play shopping around for a WRX two months ago I was quoted 10800 and 11500 for my black 2003.5, 15000 mi, AT, moonroof, changer, polished wheels, in minty fresh condition. Both appraisers didn't even open any of the doors, much less drive it--just walked around the outside jotting down notes. I thought that was odd...

Just Traded my P5 in

Here is my departing pictures of my P5 getting detailed before I traded it in. The dealer gave me 8K for mine and I had 72K miles ( I drive over 600 miles a week to work). I just bought an Audi A4 2.8 Quattro (fast and nice)!!!!

I was offered $11K yesterday for my '02 manual (30,XXX miles) on a trade for a B4000. They would not lower the price of the truck, so I walked. But still, I thought 11K was more than fair (of course they were jerking me around on the truck to make up the difference...).

I got $12,900 for my trade in December 2003. It was a 2002 Blue P5, auto, sunroof, polished wheels, 39k miles. It was near blemish free and no accidents. Dealer and I basically worked out a retail for retail trade.

I'm a salesman at a dealership....I took in a 02 red P5(that I ended up buying) 5 speed, roof leather, 23K, tint

gave him 9500 for it.....

10,500 after they repainted the left side of the car because of some scratches, and also new pads and rotors on the front

Damn, that is unheard of!

I'm sure they made money on the other end of the deal.
