People who have traded in their P5s...

I'm sure they made money on the other end of the deal.
No doubt but hopefully not as much as they wanted. It took over a week to come to an agreement with them. They finally called me on New Years Eve about 5:00pm saying that they would agree to my original offer.

At the time I was actually in another Mazda dealer working on a deal when the salesman called me on my cell. I felt bad for the guy I was with but told him a better deal came up and I was going to take it. The car they had was the color I wanted but short on the features.

I guess the end of year tax thing is true? The dealer originally wanted MSRP +1000 for the 3s Sedan and was only going to give 9000 for trade on my P5... Considering the car had just come out and this one was balls loaded, I think I came out pretty decent. My P5 was already upside down on the loan so I didn't want to do it a second time with the 3. It was either retail for retail or I was keeping my car.

I just traded mine in and got 11,500 for it. was a 02.5 with moonroof and 5spd. 42,500 miles on the clock
