I have this brace as well on my P5. I think its there just to add lateral stability to the the mount installation, doesnt do anything as far as the rubber softness I would think.

Ha! thats funny. You're lucky, you have 1 out of 2 issues . I have a grindy 2nd, and a chattering clutch that the dealer refuses to touch. I'll trade you;)
