The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

Fuel economy standards and other new required safety standards essentially is what killed the program. I believe they continue to hope to get the economies up enough to be able to support a mazdaspeed unit eventually, but that may or may not happen. I doubt it will, considering the new standards that were just passed this week, including the navigation standard and the intervehicle grid communications.

I believe this passed this week.

The program is not dead! The name is! There is something in development, just not what all the DISI Fanbois are waiting for.......Name change goes to Marketing folks........a new perspective after 10+ years of Mazdaspeed..now Mazda Motorsports...

That and the guy I talked to said there was something in the works about changing hands all together of who develops the "mazdaspeed" stuff and the name was changing to something with raceway in it. The auto show in Chicago starts tomorrow so I'll ask some of the Mazda peeps there.

Unless it is one of the Mazda Execs from Mazda Motorsports, the guys at the show won't know and are probably guilty od spreading these unfounded rumors. Most, if not all people at these car shows are, sales people, not the actual engineers and program managers for Mazda...so don't even bother askling thse guys...a waste of time....

Last year the guy I spoke with was an exec but whether or not it was of the motorsports division I dont know. It's fun to entertain myself up there. Most of the people didn't even know what the MSP was. haha

Time to get a warehouse and stock it full of cars from the '90's.

speaking of 90's cars (i know 80's but still, what are the odds), found this local. Would make a fun, cheap track and or auto-x car

I am selling my '86 MR2 at long last. It has been a great six years.

The chassis has around 160k on it.
The motor has about 23k on it
The clutch has about 19k on it.

Engine:

.040" overbore with new pistons and rings.
NST triflow cams with fidanza cam gears
Decked block and head for increased compression
Minor port and polish to clear casting imperfection
All bearings were replaced with the rebuild.
All hoses and belts in the engine bay were replaced with new ones. Mostly Toyota hoses.
Still has a/c, but needs a recharge. Compressor still kicks on.
A/c idle up plumbed into the afm
K&N cone filter
Removed the hideous throttle bracket.
Modified the tvis so it opens gradually with rpm instead of snapping open and losing power in the middle of the rpm range.

Transmission:

It is a 5-speed off of a blacktop 20v, and the gear ratios are a lot more fun than stock.
South bend clutch + pressure plate good for 225 crank hp
Light weight flywheel (10LBS)
Drop plate and tab for a short shifter
Brass shifter bushings
Aluminum shift plate bushings

Suspension:

Suspension Techniques Swaybars (with aftermarket links)
Suspension Techniques Springs
Koni yellow shocks
Full prothane suspension bushings
TRD stage 1 alignment
Front strut bar for a t-top model

Exhaust:

RS*R header
modified b-pipe to a 2.25"
magnaflow high flow cat
stock muffler from a 93 turbo

Fun parts:

MOMO steering wheel and adapter (genuine, NOT ebay crap)
Quaife quick ratio steering rack

There are probably some extra parts I can't think of at the moment, and I will add them in later. I don't even want to think about how much money I have wrapped up in this thing. I KNOW I have over $3000 in the engine alone. Hell buy it and part it out and make yourself some good money.

$2200 OBO

It is proposed that this rule be amended to allow the use of certain caliber rifles during the firearms season for deer. These rifles are traditional black powder cartridge or pistol cartridge rifles and include the following calibers: .357 Magnum, .357 Maximum, .38 Special, .375 Super Magnum, .375 Winchester, .38-55, .41 Long Colt, .41 Magnum, .44 Special, .44 Magnum,.444 Marlin, .45 ACP, .45 Colt, .45 Long Colt, .45 Winchester Magnum, .45 Smith & Wesson, .454 Casull, .460 Smith & Wesson, .45-70, .45-90, .45-110, .50-70, .50-90, .50-100, .50-110, .475 Linebaugh, .500 Smith & Wesson. It is further proposed that these rifles be limited to a total of 3 live cartridges through the use of a plug or inert ammunition inserted into the magazine.

Lists specific cartridges allowed. That being said, .44 mag lever action, or hell, even .500 S&W lever/pump would be good enough

If I had a 3 car garage, or a warehouse I could justify it. With only a 2 car garage I'm stuck at 3 (2 for DD) cars max. Amber won't give up her spot in garage.

As long as you have a license plate on it, who cares.

I would prefer to have the toys in the garage, In this case it would be Camaro & mr2. Since Amber won't give up her spot we would have to play musical cars anytime we would take the family vehicle (Amber's) out. I will be getting a DD soon, I wouldn't use the mr2 as a DD.

I only have a 2 car garage and 2 car driveway to work with. Live on a court and Neighbor's kid parks in the only real street parking spot. Could fit 2 if I could convince her to pull straight in but she's too lazy to add the extra step of reverse.
