Rear Wheel Spacer

How many of you out there are running spacers on your rear wheels? I'd like to get my rear offset closer in appearance to the front. Currently I'm considering 5mm or 15 for the rear...

Good question, further more has anyone found longer studs to go with them? I never recommend spacers to many problems, but if you have good thread engaugement and they are hub piloted I may consider.

I used to own a Scion XA several years ago and there was a company that made rear spacers that went between the rear beam and the brake drum assembly. Kind of a different option than longer studs or typical spacer. They were cnc'd and the guy offered them in increments from 10mm to 30 or so. I might do a little digging after work and see if I can still find them and see if they'd be interested in many some of the 2. I don't have any plans on putting spacers on mine, just thought I'd offer an alternative if anyone was interested.

Some of the brands of spacers if thick enough have studs in them or are included with the spacers. Are you going to be using them with the stock wheels?

Hey Derrick, this is Lee. I'll be using them with my Assetto Gara 16"s (+37). I was thinking of those track+ spacers you guys have. I'm really only considering 5mm or 15mm since I know you carry those options, and I want something that will last for the long term without making new problems.

Mostly I'm curious to hear from everyone out there: If you are running a spacer in the rear, does the rear look better at 5mm or 15mm in relation to the fronts? With the Assetto Gara's very flush look, I'm thinking 25mm is too far out....

I have a 25mm spacer you can try out from our shop 2 if you want to see how it looks. If it is too much you can drop down a size.

I'm running with a 5mm spacer in the rear and it makes them even with the rear. I also didn't have to use longer studs.

Let me know if I can help you out if you decide to go with 5mm spacers (see sig) :)

I got some 5mm wheel spacers from member azuelke (see post #10 on this thread) and I'm very satisfied with the product and result.

Basically, if you want to make your rear offset match the front and come close to being flush with the fender go with bolt-on 10-15mm spacers. I however, love the 5mm. It helps the appearance quite a bit without the cost and aggravation of running bolt-on spacers.

Note: 5mm is the thickest slip-on spacer I would use on the 2.

Nope. Still had plenty of threads left.

Glad to see this followed up! You beat me to the punch. I bought a set of 5mm and 10mm track+ spacers from Unzip, but I've been swamped with work for a few months and haven't had any time to get around to actually putting them on the car. After adding your 5mm and seeing the difference, do you think 10 would be past flush or still just inside the wheel well lip? My ruler-based measurement seems that 10 will be right there close to the edge... Can you post a shot from the front, where the rear offset difference is the most visible? THX, and congrats, looks good!

If you widen the rear wheels, even if it is only 5mm, do you gain any form of cornering performance or are we talking about something purely asthetic?

Here are my previous and current set ups.

Previous Set Up -

Wheels: 17x7 +45 offset
Tires: 205/45/17
Spacers: 5mm - Rear
Coilovers: Lowered aggressively

Outcome: There's still room to go wider in the rear. Slight rubbing but only on extreme dips or bumps. Keep in mind that the wheels were 17's. With no spacers at all there was no rubbing. Plenty of bolt thread left.

Current Set Up -

Wheels: 15x7 +20 offset
Tires: 195/50/15
Spacers: 5mm - Rear
Coilovers: Lowered aggressively

Outcome: My offset is aggressive but they fit in the rear wheel wells just fine. Even more if you don't have spacers. I did have to roll the fenders in the rear because of my aggressive lowered height. I did have to increase the height a bit. At a normal lowered height you'll be fine. Fender roll did make a big difference as now I only get slight rubbing but only on extreme dips or bumps. Plenty of bolt thread left.

Mainly cosmetic. A lower offset all around might be better for track stuff, but a 5mm wider track in the rear only (where you certainly don't want any more grip relative to the front) will not really be beneficial for performance purposes.

For me it's cosmetic. I prefer the look of the rears feeling properly offset to the body relative to the front. I think 5mm is the best middleground. As Eyeballs said, adding too much track width in the rear could create some problems.
