Ahhh, good times. I almost got scammed yesterday at work from a "debt collection agency" for $800. They couldn't give me any proof I owed any debt so I told them to mail me something. This fellow basically yelled at me on the phone saying they would send a summons to court in Summit County for me. I replied with "Well, if a cop shows up at my work tomorrow at least I'll know you're legit." Click.
So I checked my credit report (you get a free report every year from
Annual Credit Report.com ) so if you don't already keep an eye on your credit report, this one is free. I haven't checked mine in many, many years. (I'm so stupid!) and I found out my car loan is showing a balance of $796. I went to my bank this morning (First Merit, who I also had my loan from) and they agree it was paid in full in 2010. So now I have to get my credit report fixed.
Moral of the story, no wonder my credit is so crappy. A lot of it was incorrect! So don't be stupid like me, check that s***, yO!
