Random question that, in no way, helps with your problem- Did you have this car back in May? I ask because I visit Fort Myers a few times a year and I saw a yellow speed on McGregor near Iona when I was down there last. Just curious. I also saw another member in Jacksonville on my way back home.has any one else had problems with their car feeling like its goin to stall at a light? it was the first time car has ever done this any ideas?
The EGR on an MSP, is a pain in the ass to get to. He's right that it's two bolts, 12mm I believe, but accessing them isn't as easy. The EGR valves on Mazdas aren't cheap. The OEM EGR is about $200, plus $9 for the gasket. I'd say a shop is going to charge you 1.5-2 hours, plus ~3% hazardous material and shop supply fees. All Data calls for .6hr. Most shops on something like that are going to round up to 1.0hr. If you came into my shop or called to get an estimate, I'd price it at no less than 1.5hr. because it's a pain to get off. Just an FYI.im personally a mx6 fs guy, my egr valve cost about 280 if i bought it, so im not sure if u have the same engine of what, but egrs are real easy to replace its usually 2 bolts and maybe two vaccum lines, nad a small gasket, very easy, do you have a chiltons of haynes manual? save your self some cash and try it your self! but with mechanica fees its at least 50-75$ an hour plus highly marked up part prices, if yo do take it to the shop i would suggest looking up the parts at rockaut, com first and see how much more they are gonna charge you, for leater referance.
Good luck
Before you go wasting your time trying to clean your EGR or wasting your money buying one and replacing it, you should make sure that your PCV is good or better yet just replace it with a Purolator PV1047, check your air cleaner and replace if needed, and most importantly check the condition of your plugs and replace if needed. Also might want to do a Seafoam treatment or two.
The EGR is not hard to replace at all, I don't know why anyone would think it was difficult.
There's no room to work down there. The job itself isn't hard. Just a pain in the ass.The EGR is not hard to replace at all, I don't know why anyone would think it was difficult.
You've gotta realize there are people on here that have absolutely zero ability to repair and/or service their own car. I'll tear down and rebuild my engine or transmission in a day, whereas other people wouldn't even drain/fill fluids.Agreed. Not saying that it was fun, but its definitely do-able. I wouldn't pay anyone to do it.
