So i was going to just buy Oem replacement plugs/wires/coils. Well I was on OMP and it costed me over 200$? Is that right. Should i just do Wires and Plugs? The Coil is the expensive part.
I bought mine all at autozone for ~$250, plugs, wires, coils. Change the coils at 100k, or 125k at the latest (if you wanna risk it). Read somewhere on the forums that the coils were designed to last 60k, but can last up to 120k. A bad coil can lead to major issues like a precat failure- which is disastrous in CA for a 2002 PRO5 (dealer only - ~$1000), which happened to me. Figure: less than $100 will get you longer life out of your car. Well worth it. Some say wait until you get misfire errors until you replace your coil packs, they obviously don't live in california. So totally up to you and where you live.
2 coils, 4 wires are needed. As for a vac leak, check the accordian intake tube. They are prone to crack and a quick fix is to slap some duct tape on them until you can get a replacement.
Yeah, Plugs and wires are a must right now. I might do a transmission flush pretty soon too. Also how can you check for a vacuum leak because the car is idling rough and low and then sounds like it's going to stall then automatically revs back up..
Small Note: I would need a short and long wires, 4 plugs and an ignition coil right? Rock auto says i need 2 ignition coils so i would be buying 2 then. Im summing it up to be about like 100$ or less possibly..Lets hope this fix my rough idling.
I dont think i have any misfires. Well things is my cars at 69k Miles right now. But the car is having some hard revving issue. Like when the rpm drops down when its in neutral its goes down rough. I feel the steering wheel kinda shake?I already cleaned my Egr valve. So i don't know whats causing that. I want to replace the plugs and wires and see what happens. Any more help would be appreciated. Btw no CEL either.
AutoZone has coil packs for $26/ea with a 2yr warranty. They also have wire sets for around $50. Check it out. Beats hell out of paying OEM prices.
I had exactly all of these same symptoms on my recently purchased 03 with 102k miles. I, too, also suspected the EGR valve and gave it a good cleaning but it didn't look all that bad and it didn't fix any of my symptoms. Since I always have a bottle of SeaFoam on the shelf to add to the occasional gas tank or crankcase before an oil change, I gave this a try:

Frankly, I was very skeptical that it would do any good but since I didn't read any horror stories of it hurting I followed his instruction except that I poured it down the hose instead of letting it suck it up as that was easier to monitor. After the hard acceleration run to blow it all out, ALL symptoms of low idling, low power, steering wheel shake when coming to a stop, etc simply vanished!!!! Truly a "miracle cure" in my book.
