The Ohio Random Thread... aka We Should Probably Be Working

i have about 4.5" of clearance between the pinch weld and ground, and with a dedicated set of snow tires i have never gotten stuck with this car... heck last year i was plowing my driveway when we got 8"+ cause i didnt have time to shovel out hahaha

let me know then, i'd be willing to swap

I know it is a different car but it was night and day when I put them on my Miata. The ride quality was improved by 1000% and the handling was much more predictable.

Just need some input from you guys because I seem to get a way faster response on here than on the MSP section, but any who. I plan on getting a SSAFC next month and was wondering what all I need to go with that besides getting it tuned? Gauge, wire, ...? I tend to stay away from installing electronics, because me a electricity do not get along :) Any thoughts Phen, Marlon, anyone?

Everything is complete and in the box. tuning is the most import aspect and you will need a wide band to check your afr's. AEM is a great choice and you can get a good deal on one from Amazon.com. Just find someone with a great deal of electrical knowledge and make sure you solder the wire and not use the clamps. I am sure The Phen will chime in as well at some point too!

Hey Will,

Sorry I haven't been in much to answer you. Sorry to hear about the blown shock as well. To be honest, I ran the shock until it had no more oil to leak, I believe...and then sold it (the set) to Larry and he is still going strong with it, I think, LOL! SO I wouldn't worry too much. Of course, I didn't do any performance driving with the blown shock, but still... you'll be okay. I must've drove 15,000+ miles with it blown. In fact, I didn't ever take a good look at it. Larry might know better about the condition of my struts/shocks.

I'm loving my BC coilovers, for sure. No complaints whatsoever, unless you can call rubbing on the plastic inner liner in the front complaining cause my car settled more than I expected and I iz now slammd!

Side note: Justine's new ride has a little funk soul brotha in it! Check it out now! (lame Fatboy Slim reference)

Thanks for the advice! Every time I think about it I change my mind as far as what to do. :D

Congrats to Justine on the new ride!

Congrats Justine! But why does she always pick out baby puke colors? haha

Yeah, the SSAFC is a really nice package and comes with damn near everything you need. Everything except the WBO2. Haha. Like Marlon said, the AEM is one of the best WB's out there for the money. There are other nice ones, but for the budget minded souls, it's probably the best choice.

Wiring the SSAFC isn't too bad. It's a helluva lot easier than say... building a Megasquirt from scratch.

I did have a question though. Do you have a boost controller of any sort? If so, which one?

Evan #2, I have Koni Yellows, H&R springs, and fatcat bumpstops... You're more than welcome to ride along and see how they feel.

Hell ya, I definitely want to go for a ride. I'll have to take you up on that offer.

How's the driving going? Getting better at driving the beast?

Your stock shocks are in the scrap pile, along with my stock shocks. Both sets are 1 not leaking and one can't leak anymore. Lol. Your struts however are installed on the front of my heap and doing well.

On another note. A Kia Soul? That is a hella-practical (family-ish) vehicle that was not on the list that I read. I thought it was between a 2 and a Fiesta? Either way I guess. I really like the Soul, looks wise, Does it come with a Hamstar? Does she have a mod list started yet?

congrats Justine on the new ride!

I'm thinking I should've gone with a SSAFC instead of the Haltech, can't seem to find anyone that will tune it here. I thought I had a guy lined up but I haven't heard from him since may and the shop he was gonna do it at (he's independent but rent's their dyno to tune) won't tune it either.

I'm getting a clicking noise on my driver's front, I think it's the brake pad cause it goes away when I hit the brake pedal and on turns. Gonna look at the vac leak today and maybe get that solved.

have you talked to Big 3? they might be able to tune it. If not then talk to Matt @ Slick Motorsports, he knows a good tuner
