What have you done to your P5 today?

What kind of oil? Just, regular motor oil? lol

The manager at work mentioned me putting oil in the doors and rocker of that F-150, but I have no idea what he meant. I was just going to squirt in some inner panel rustproofing...it's like a yellow, thick, goop.

Yup, regular motor oil. Had I known this two years ago I could have saved myself around $697. lol

Ahhh memories, remember when that same thing happened to me, ended up swapping to yellow nology set...damn rubber boots!!

Isn't it fun to go down memory lane. haha

Drove to he post office on my lunch break to mail rsb bushings/brackets and then a quick stop at The UPS Store to ship out the MSP axle back.

I'm having troubles with the high flow cat, and figured this would be a good place to ask a question. Yes...I did do a search, and came up empty handed. Anyway, is there a name for the cross bar that goes underneath the cat? If so, is there an upgrade for it that might allow for more room? It could be the front sway bar or strut bar, but I'm not sure. The problem is that the cat rests on that cross bar and creates a SUPER annoying vibration. I know a straight pipe would fix the issue, but I really don't want to do that. I'd have to swap it out every year or two for emissions, and I'm too lazy! LOL. Honestly, I am looking for hassle free upgrades.

Thanks!

Haha...this is the EXACT same problem I'm having!!!

One of my rubber hangers is broke right there, but even when I get a new one, I don't think it's going to raise the cat up enough not to rest on that cross member. I was going to try and maybe heat the hangers up and bend them in a way that pulls the cat up.

Dang...it sounds soooooooo nasty at certain RPM's. Nastier than the rice itself! LOL. Anyway, my exhaust is tucked up so tight, but it still vibrates like crazy...

I took it to a shop today to have them check for leaks, but they said it's sealed tighter than a drum. Their option was a straight pipe, but if there is any other option, that would be SWEET!

Yea, even the passanger I had in there today could feel it in his feet! I'm going to get it up on a lift at work this saturday and see what I can do.

Actually, does anyone know if a straight pipe would be quieter in the cabin?? I'm pretty sure it would be louder out back, but the cabin is really what I'm concerned with.

Straight pipe will give you that nasty raspy tone. You don't want that. As far as the exhaust goes, like I said for Jeff, try some CorkSport poly exhaust hangers. They don't flex around like rubber and will keep the exhaust in the same spot and tucked up better from that crossmember. Or like Josh said, try bending the metal hangers. If they are hollow you can gently bend them with a box end wrench and some muscle. Or heat them up.

And keep an eye on the e-brake cables that criss-cross over the midpipe before the rear axle. There are two brackets on each side that hold the e-brake cables in place. Mine were touching the very top of the exhaust and would rattle like crazy. I ended up cutting out my beloved GReddy cat back because I thought it was the resonator. Only to find out it was those stupid cables. So lesson of the story, it's usually just a little tweak to something on your exhaust and you'll be reattle free. :)

I just ordered 2 new rubber hangers from Rock Auto. Only 1 is broken, but for $2.90, I figured the other one might be sagging, so I got 2.

After I did that, I saw Evan's post about poly mounts and thought..."Dammit! I JUST ordered stockers!" Then I went to CS's site....I'm good on $50-something hangers! haha

Sweet! Thank you! I'll get under there and check it out...I know we removed a bracket on the install, but most of the noise is pretty nasty. I really think it might be the hangers, so I'll probably try to bend them a bit more. It's just so tucked already...

But those hangers are SOOO worth it, man! Haha! I'm a CS *****. I push them on all my friends. And I told you I've got a drawer full of hangers in the garage you could have.

Haven't pulled the trigger yet on the CS hangers but oh so close. I'm tired of re-aligning the tip every night. lol

Evan....what would you say is the difference between running a straight pipe to a catback vs a CS? Only asking since you mentioned the straight pipe would give that raspy sound.

They would probably sound very similar. Since they both would be catless header back designs with one resonator. IMHO, very raspy. I wish I took video of my SpooledUp header with the CS. I like a loud car but that was just bloody unbareable. I ran it for about a week before I put in that Magnaflow cat.

Jeff, try using zipties on both sides of the metal hanger to hold the rubber hanger in one spot. It sound ghetto but it worked on Pablos car. Until he bought CS hangers... tee-hee.

Gotcha and when I asked I wasn't thinking....projectblack has an OBX header. For some reason I was thinking he was running a stock header. Still leaning towards going the CS route with the stock header and doing what you did. Getting a hi-flo cat I can swap in quick for inspection time. To me that will be much easier than swapping headers out in Nov or Dec every year. The one thing I'm not looking forward to is the rear insert install. (nervous)

Just may do that for a temp. fix.

Drove it almost exactly 600 miles home from GA.
Yesterday, I got to take it around Road Atlanta 8 times!
The Mitty rocked. :D

***** them up. They're an authorized vendor on here (unlike some that keep getting mentioned). I'd definitely have more CS stuff on my car if it was a) any better than what I have or b) not big money.

i LOVED my CS hangers, although i still had to use a screw clamp to keep em from sliding side to side

Sha's car looks hawt on the track with the pink wheels!

Stopped at Breidingers Speed Shop on my way home to pick up the K&N Hybrid Air Filter Cleaner. Only place in town I found that could get it...just over $10 with tax. :) After dinner, I jacked the front end up and felt around the flange of the cat/mid-pipe to check for a small leak...nothing. So I had Tam come over to rev it a few times....nothing. So I went to the rear and had her do the same. Each time the car came back to idle, a small puff of white smoke came out and there was def. a smell of fuel. Filter is getting cleaned this weekend. To re-cap:

MAF has been cleaned
New plugs and coil packs
Gumout Regane fuel system cleaner was added to the tank today when I filled up
Quick check for a small exhaust leak
Filter cleaning to come

Possibly an O2 sensor or cat? But I'm leaning away from those as I have no CEL.... On a sidenote if the mpg's don't improve over the next tank or two after the fuel system cleaner and filter cleaning I'll be contacting the mechanic to see if it could be the headgasket/cracked head. The car did overheat in 2009 but she was running fine after a new t-stat and other parts were replaced. The last oil change, the oil looked good and the coolant in my resovoir tank is nice and green?

And while I was under the car I saw this...
