NEMOC Random BS Thread

Good Morning NEPOCers!!

Just got free bunk beds b/c where my mother-in-law bought them for my daughter lost the hardware and is sending me a new set of bunks so I get to keep the first ones and just need to buy hardware! Luckily its not all crazy hardware just some basic nuts and bolts! The boys will be all excited!

Morning all!

Got part of the payment for the MS6 last night... Just a little more paperwork and she's gone.

yo, morning...scraped and painted an 150 yr old wrought iron fence yesterday, along with 30 other volunteers...it surrounded a very old cemetary...some graves were marked from the 1700's...anyway, ma armies hurt!

Scraped the fence? I gather they were unable to blast it? How safe was that with lead paint, or did it have more recent paint? What was this for?

the fence was over 600' long..we fot about 300' scraped and painted. no lead paint, it had been done in like the last 10yrs or so, media blasting would have been the quickest way to have prepared it, not sure why they hadn't thought of that, maybe because of the cost of the media and that it couldn't be reclaimed?

thoughts? my 2 yr old optima won't hold a charge longer than 3 or 4 days before it drops below 9 volts and won't start the car.
factoids:
  • battery has been tested good
  • battery takes the charge
  • alternator tests good
  • car doesn't get driven
  • looked for possible drain issues...will continue to look (i think this is issue)
  • my miata sat for 3 months and wasn't started once..hit the key march and it started right up

haha...don't think i wasn't kickin my butt all day about not going...it KILLED me to have to stay home and do this crap...i need to downsize!
how'd you do anyway bruce?

not bad. Was running my street tires and got to 3 secs of Oleg. Was less than 3 but he had a great run last run.

How are they testing the battery? Are they doing a load test? If there is no drain, then it has to be the battery.

Morning all. Off to my parents at noon today. Spent yesterday doing oil changes on both cars and then rotating my wheels. Found a loose stickon weight and had the tire shop rebalance it. Washed Mia as she was just filthy from last week.

Going to be a long weekend and I miss another Pats game being on the road. Damn.

hey Mark, any word on the date for the cleaning meet?
what do you care...you'll have some lame reason why you won't be able to make it anyway!! jk, no i need to speak with the boss tonight...making note right now!

they did the complete test, or they say they did anway....i think i have a parasitic drain somewhere...i'm going to charge the battery tonight, put an ampmeter on it and see what it's reading, key off...if i have more than around 50 ma draw i might have something drawing more current than it should...i can then start pulling fuses one by one till it goes the draw goes away...
