Calling all MS3 Owners with smoking Turbos...

It's part of the drivetrain which is covered by Mazda, not extended warranty. Good until 60k miles. I'd be on the phone everyday and night until I got it fixed or flat out denied. **** letting your car just sit, it may smoke but it still drives.

Car had 1st turbo replaced at 20k in 2007 had to wait a 6 months cause mazda was on backorder. Car recently had 60412 miles on it when it started smoking again. Took it to dealer and had all my records of oil changed every 3-4k miles. Mazda denied me because of 412 miles. The extended warranty i bought was a powertrain warranty up till 70k miles but they say turbo isnt a component they cover. I am calling the poor soul 3 times a week to no avail because he keeps sayin they are playing hardball.

wow, you really are getting screwed. If you are replacing a part that you already replaced, that tells me that you didn't truly fix the problem. Mazda is a bunch of ****** criminals.

Thats crazy, HOW can they say the turbo is not part of the powertrain?? Do you have a copy of your warrenty should have a break down of what it covers, My wife's Extended has it listed with the engine components.. The FN Turbo is part of the motor which is 100% powertrain,, An Mazda not replacing it casue of 412 miles I would be call Mazda everyday..

07 MS3- 40k- Fully stock exhaust and have been smoking since 25k... time to get it in.

08.5 started smoking with 8K fully stock. Just replaced turbo under warranty with just over 15K.

Year: 2009
Mileage: 1158
Mods: cobb sri, hks ssqv, ATP downpipe, greddy TI-c exhaust.

my car has started to smoke after downpipe install that was on january, the thing is that it smokes somedays and other days its just fine.

No, beginning 08 models still had the bad turbo. I believe that end 08s or beginning 09s came out with the C type turbo which supposedly fixed the issue.

Mazda didn't fix jack s***. My car would smoke periodically when I was 100% stock. I'm just gonna run 5W40 from now on, and maybe the Pill insert if the heavier oil doesn't solve it.

The company just doesn't want to admit it's at fault and doesn't have a solution. Once they do, everybody the dealerships screwed will come out of the woodwork with a vengeance.

Proly right. They tried that 5w40 bs with my car and it helped for 50 miles then started smoking again. What makes me laugh is how this 2.3 disi is 1 of wards top 10 engines 06-08

My stock '08 has 26K miles and they changed the oil to 5W40 to stop the smoking. After 3 weeks it started again. Mazda NA sent me a survey about the service at the dealership and I basically answered to the effect that I was not satisfied. The dealership called me today to tell me that they will replace my turbo and they should receive it in 1 week. Let's see.
It does look like Mazda is listening to the complaints after all (if you complete their surveys).

Just curious... for anyone who voided their warranty and got a turbo swapped?, how much did it cost you to have mazda replace your turbo+labor?

Someone should start a thread surveying how many ppl have had bad turbos!

turbo is 1800 from mazda

according to the tsb it takes 4 hrs of labor

gaskets
oil
etc

2800 bucks all in

finally got the extended warranty guys to warranty my turbo. Price was 100 deductible for me but looking at the invoice 1k for parts and labor about 2k for the turbo. They said they put the updated turbo in so lets hope its fixed for good.
