My gf and I are looking at a used Mazda3 sGT. sun roof, Bose, leather. price is $16400. CPO. Is this reasonable?

What year is it you are looking at? Miles?

that sounds a little steep for a 3-4 year old vehicle... i'd keep looking or see if they can drop the price a little bit...check out edmunds.com, and do their true market value price check

I did the TMV and certified is giving me like 17500. How accurate is edmunds usually? This is the first car I am buying on my own, so I am doing my best to not get ripped off. My first thought was that this was too high.

edmunds is usually pretty accurate, but i still think 16k is a bit steep for a 3-4 year old car, even if it is a mazda... if nothing else, offer the dealer maybe 14-15K and see what they do from there...

I have a '07 Mazda3s AT. Brand new it was 22k. the '07 GT was 24k. So Being that it is 4yo isnt that bad. The fact that it has under 35k is good. thats only like 11k a year. compared to my '07 that has 68k. Take it to a mechanic make sure it all runs the way it should. That isn't an unfair price for the mileage so long as the car is in good condition. Or you could buy a '10 for 24k and drive off the lot and watch it go to 18k lol.

Is it private sale or Dealer sale. Price is neg. also if private.

Its a dealer and certified. So warranty included. I threw 14 out and he almost laughed at me. I saw exact same car Not certified go for 154000. From a dealer. Is 1000 worth being certified?

Stick to your guns. Either they'll take you seriously or they won't. Their loss if they can't make a sale.

I know you were making a joke but this is not a bad option, actually. They're still offering 0% which, depending what interest rate you'd usually qualify for equates to thousands of dollars in savings. And I got mine for thousands off MSRP on top of that.

I'm not sure where the 18k comment came from as the new 3 earned ALG's top pick in its class for projected resale value. Of course, the value on pretty much any car will drop during your ownership. I'm not sure what your point was.

wait till the last 2 days of the month...dealers become more desperate and willing to make less profitable deals at the end of the month, to meet quotas, and yes, $1000 is definitely worth it...the car itself has been certified which means it is in "like new" condition, and has absolutely nothing wrong with it, which is good, but the certified part comes with an extended warranty, which is totally worth it
