I just got my unit installed the other day.
I do have one big problem, not sure if its my unit. I just got a new audio system, two fronts, a sub (jackstand) and amp. I noticed there is some pretty bad alternator whine and asked the installer, they told me it was the head unit and there was nothing they could do...
Is anyone else having any sound issues? I spent quiet a bit of money on the whole setup and the alternator whine pretty much ruins everything

does your amp have cross-overs (is this the right term?)? if it does you should be able to tune the whine out. if it does not have cross-overs i believe you can get some external crossovers and tune out the whine that way. i had a system in my truck and it had an amp whine, shop was able to tune it out.

Thanks Speedy, I'm pretty clueless to car audio which is why i got the shop to do it...
I have the manual and I'll take a look (It's a JBL 300/4v2). Thanks for the tip.

Hmm so you just gave the "blue wire" a 12v source and it popped up on the screen. If thats the case then the signal at turns on the backup lights should work.

i have the supplied power cables wired into the revers lights so that when they turn on the camera does too. i know the camera works and powers up when reverse lights are on because i tested in on a different monitor. but when i plug the video cable into the car advanced HU i get no rear camera. i thought this was just a plug and play deal, what am i doing wrong?

This looks like a great option and I plan on ordering it and installing it before I leave for basic training. I've read over everything posted throughout these 14 pages and it looks like install is pretty easy, however the difficulty lies in installing tomtom and a mounting solutions. The only question I have is where did everyone mount their reverse cameras, maybe I missed it in the thread, but any pictures and or directions would be greatly appreciated!

thanks, i figured it out and used the same power source as the camera, now the image pops up whenever i put it in reverse.

awesome head unit, back up camera is actually not to bad to install. i installed mine on the little plastic lip above the plate and under the bumper. i haven't tried installing other NAV software yet, but would like to have tomtom. rout 66 is ok, but not the best.
on that note: anyone want to do it for me if i mail them my memory card and some money?

I really think IGO is the best Navigation for our unit, but it is of course a matter of preference. The UI just looks good with our cars. Anyway, I'd be willing to put a copy on your memory card for you if you included a postage paid return envelope. Just let me know.

I'm using Igo, but not with this nav system, and I absolutely love it over the one that came with my navigation, plus I found up to date maps so thats even better.

These in dash screens are so nice, I would love to get one, but losing the trip computer is the only thing stopping me from getting one haha.

Oh what's the deal with having the Blose speakers and amps? do you need anything special for that?

the only thing you have to do is notify car advanced when you buy the unit that you have the bose system. car advance will then send you a unit that is plug and play. this unit does improve vastly on the stock sound system.
which part of the trip computer are you most worried about losing?

Did you get your card back yet? I forgot all about it, but you might want to change the night theme. The one I had enabled has weird icons for pois.

it was in the mail this morning! thank you! i just put it in and only played around with it for a few minutes. the UI does look very nice on the HU. how do i change the night theme?

G'day I'm from Australia, and interested to find out whether anyone knows whether the CarAdvanced unit will work in Australia model Mazda 3s OR has anyone in Australia installed one of these?
