Spin on oil filter converstion + oil gauge sender questions

OK, anyone done the spin on oil filter conversion and added the oil gauge sender adapter to their speed? I am about to pull the trigger on this from PG, as in getting the $100 oil conversion and gauge sender adapter plate but have hesitated because I'm concerned about clearance. There isnt but 4-5 inches between the bottom of the stock cansiter and the air dam, and I have ZERO desire to have to cut a hole in the air dam or any nonsense like that to get it to fit right, much less expose the filter to road rash.

I did the swap over to Spin on oil filters 2 weeks ago and it was a bit of a pain since the screws that went back into the block took quite a bit of force to fully tighten. Also installed a Fumoto Oil drain valve which is very useful for future changes and it just goes in where the stock screw was.

From my experience the clearance was not an issue at all on the oil filter. The bottom of it was only about 1/2 inch lower due to the filter being a bit longer and a nut welded on to it (i got the HK oil filter).

Also switched over to Mobil 1 0W-30 and no leaks at all.

I did not know there was an oil gauge sender adapter plate. I checked PG's site and did not see it. Do you have a link for it? I would be able to tell you pretty quickly if you would run into a clearance issue from looking at it.

Thats the Spin on oil filter conversion and the oil sender plate, lets you put on an oil pressure and/or oil temp guage.
I ended up getting a Dashhawk instead, but that will probably change about this time next year.

The clearance is not an issue on that piece. The only thing I can be unsure of is if your car has an oil cooler on it already or not. If it does you will be replacing it and need to drain the engine coolant, then refil it after the install.
I would send an email or PM to Ken at PG to verify just in case.

Your sig says you have a Speed 3 Sport. Most likely it has an oil cooler already and you will need to get a different part.http://www.protegegarage.com/product_info.php?cPath=160_256&products_id=1210

I did the spin-on conversion a while back. I added the Fumoto valve then as well. I have the pressure sending sandwich, but haven't installed it yet. Maybe on the next oil change... Since I'm using the Mazda B-3000 pickup filters I may have a clearance issue.
