When I start up my car 2/5 times my car will make a really loud squeel as if a belt is really dry or something..

I tried some of the belt lubricant on it from part stores.. still no help..

Now my dad thinks it could be like a bearing in the water pump I think..

Any help would be very appreciated.. and If you know what it is, how much are we looking at to fix this problem?

And im sorry if there is already a thread about this.. I couldnt find one

easiest ways to find out:

take the belts off and spin each wheel, make sure they spin freely and smoothly

make sure the belts are in good shape before you put them on. if all the pulleys are good, and the belts are good, it could just be that the belts need to be a lil tighter

Okay.
It only happens when I start up the car, and/or in 1st gear..

correct....tighten up a lil bit, and run it....still squeals tighten a lil more.....but i'ld still make sure everything is good before hand....

how do you tighten it?

if you look at the PS pump(it sits on the top corner of the motor behind the pass head light) you'll see a bolt that 'pushes' the ps pump outward from the block. that is what you use to tighten or loosen to remove the belts.

but you also have to loosen the mounting bolt.....

it's the exact same for the alt on the underside of the car, the bolts(the mounting and thr tension) just different orientation
