Power Door Locks - 08 Mazda3

:
2017 CX5 AWD Touring
Is there any way to get the power door locks to LOCK when the car is put into DRIVE and UNLOCK when put into park??

Via a program or something?

No it was a module which connected to about 12 wires in the main wiring harness. It locked the doors when you hit 12 kph, and then unlocked them when the ignition was turned off. I think it was about $50 + $30 shipping and came with a really detailed picture walkthrough installation.

Okay either half of the links in his store disappeared yesterday, or my computer is freaking out. Anyway it looks like they're back up there today. I was mistaken, it only taps to 7 wires and there are two modes you can set it in depending on your preference, and how you wire it.

Mode one locks the doors at 12kph and unlocks with the ignition off.

Mode two locks when you take your foot off the brake to hit the gas and unlocks with the ignition off.

Some notes. He does say that the install diagram is "Only a reference for automatic transmissions", however he lists the specific wires you need to locate for either installation method so as long as you can find those you'll be fine. Really I imagine you could hook it up to just about any signal wire you want as long as you think it out properly.

Anyhoo HERE's the link.

It looks like a good piece. Would this void any warranty on my Mazda? The door-locking should be a STANDARD thing on these cars. Just from a safety standpoint, to have the doors lock when you drive away.

I have a 15 year old GM vehicle that has the door lock option as STANDARD. Why 15 years later a new 2008 Mazda3 does not have this feature is beyond me...

The instructions that come with the unit are "generic" or in other words, they are not specific for a Mazda3. Does anyone know of a good write-up on this? I don't want to start cutting and splicing wires that I don't know what they are for.

There's a pdf walkthrough located in the product description of the link I posted above with step by step photos of how to install this on a Mz3. Though the car they use is a 1.6L I would hardly call that "generic".

I just wanted to be sure that it would work for an 2008, before I start cutting wires.

I'd look through that walkthrough and then start looking through the wiring in your car to see that everything matches up. If it does then wiring shouldn't be a problem for you.

In the directions, it states something about using DIODES for a 2008. Has anyone installed this on a 2008 Mazda3?

i am suprised that you actually want this. i hated it on past cars.

All my cars have it. Even my older mid 90's cars. It is more of a safety thing. I would say that 95% of all cars today come with this STOCK from the factory.
