Replacement filter for MS CAI

Hey folks:

Just wondering if anyone has replaced the wet filter (needs oil) that comes with the MS CAI with a dry element?

Does anyone know what "size" filter is needed for a replacement? Gonna need to either replace or clean mine in the Spring.

I haven't cleaned it since install of late fall 07. Gonna clean or replace mine in the Spring.

I've think amsoil is the only one selling a dry filter for the Cobb intake size. I'm not sure if the MSCAI is the same or not, but they have them in many different sizes.

Let me rephrase the question. A filter that does not need to be oiled like the one that comes with the MA CAI.

This is the Mazda part# GRMS8ML10 for the replacement filter.
I purchased one before the stop sale was issued.
I don't know if they are selling them now though.
You can also go to the AEM website to get the filter size for their CAI
which should be the same size as the MS-CAI.
Amsoil sells dry filters you just need to have the dimensions off of the MS-CAI filter to get the one that fits.

You sure about that? My filter came with a reoiling kit included in the box. One bottle of cleaner (I think) and 1 bottle of oil to re-oil the filter.

Wrong.

It came with two bottles of cleaner.

Ive heard that you should lubricate your filters once in a while. Ive only had my CAI for about 4K miles so I havent touched my filter yet. Dont get this confused with pouring oil all over it. Just put a little to help keep the consistancy / protect the filter I guess. As I said ive never done this so don't quote me on it. When I installed my Injen CAI, the filter felt slightly greasy.

If you want to avoid the hassle altogether you could always just get a replacement filter online for 40 bucks or get a cheaper one from autozone.

If you have an Injen CAI then yes you do have an oiled filter.

You should clean it before you re-oil it.

Mazdaspeed3 CAI has an AEM dry filter that is not oiled.

Are you sure you have a MSCAI? Mine came with two bottles of filter cleaning solution.

When I picked up the cleaning kit, it too came w/ 2 bottles of cleaner. No oil/lube/additive.

Let me ask this question to the OP: does your filter have a wire screen on the outside and the inside of the air filter, to hold the filtering media in place? Or does it only have a plastic framework on the inside, and no screen or frame on the outside?

If yes to the inside/outside wire screens, chances are that it takes oil a la the K&N.

If no to the inside/outside screens and yes to the plastic frame on the inside, it should be the AEM dryflow filter that takes no oil. This is what my filter looks like.

I stand corrected. And yes I am sure I have the MS CAI, just wasn't sure what was in the bottles.
