Fog Light Gels

I wanted to do something with the fog lights. I pondered silver star headlights but then thought....even with the new bulbs the fog lights would be largely ineffective. Instead I found a website that sells a thick film that covers the foglights (they have kits for headlights as well). I bought them in the yellow color. The product is very thick and will protect the lenses from all but the biggest rocks.

My only issue is the gels are slightly smaller than the foglights. Not sure how this will look at night. I bought them from www.headlightarmor.com

Be advised. In two months you'll be pulling them off because they melted to the lense. Or better yet...take them off now. Don't make the same mistake I did.

Want yellow? Get yellow bulbs.

Mine lasted 6 months before it started to burn.... you're better off going with HID's or colored bulbs...

really? rockblocker has been around for a long time and I haven't heard of his overlays melting.

I have them on my ms3 fogs (smoked) and they havent melted. Its been over 7 months.

What exact brand and type product did you use? I bought an inferior product (thinner and cheaper) years ago for my Toyota Matrix fog lights and never had an issue. I used silverstar bulbs for the two years I owned the car. The headlightarmor product is a very thick product that feels much more pliable and substantial than what I used in the past.

The Rockblocker overlays will only melt if you leave the fogs on while the car is stationery. If the fogs are on while the car is in motion you should be okay. I had my Rockblockers burn last winter when I'd leave the car warming up with the fogs on. I replaced the overlays and never had this problem again....as long as I didn't leave the fogs on while the car was idling.

Hmmm with stock bulbs eh? I rarely sit with the lights on. I drive all of 9 miles to work twice a week and a few trips around town.

Yes, with the stock bulbs.
If you leave the fogs on for 5mins with the car idling and then touch the foglight lens you'll feel how much heat is generated....be warned you can burn your finger tips. I tried this after my Rockblockers burned the first time and I was painfully surprised......(shocked)

I can believe it. The airplane I fly has limits on how long we can sit stationary with the landing lights/taxi lights on. Anything more than 10 minutes we shut them off, otherwise it damages the lens covers fogging them up.

I don't drive enough to justify the expense of aftermarket HIDs. I drive an average of 500 miles a month. The Gels should be just fine. I think I am done adding on the my 5.

You said so cuz you don't realize how better the visibility is improve with HID, this ain't a minor modification, it is one of the most important for safety.

I have an 08 GT. I know what HID does for visibility. Spending extra $$$ for HID foglamps does not make sense in MY situation.
