New 09 Nissan GT-R Thoughts

Was driving home today and i saw a silver GT-R. Damn that thing looked sweet. Pulled up next to him to see if he wanted to step on the gas, but he was an old fart and not interested. I dont understand why 80 year olds buy fast cars only to never exceed 3000 rpms in them . . . makes no sense. I guess they enjoy messing up their backs with the stiff ride. Oh well, he would have smoked me anyways. I read the specs on the 09 GTR and they seem pretty good. Car runs around 70Kish with 480 bhp and runs 1/4 mile in just under 12 seconds (think one site had it at 11.9). Gas mileage is only about 14 miles city though. It corners well and has some good brakes. Nice car but seems on the same level as the corvette Z05's. Not 100% sure on how much the vettes cost but i think they are around the same. What do you guys think ??

theres an entire thread about this...

and its 70k before dealership premiums. which tacks on about 30-35k

He's right, there is an entirely new thread about this.

But pertaining to your thoughts:

AWD>RWD Vette
0-60>RWD Vette
Sophistication>Vette
Handling>Vette

It's just my opinion of course.

Just because old farts have the money, doesn't mean they spend it on all the right things. But regardless, just cause he has a fast car doesn't mean he has to speed everywhere, or prove anything to every punk kid who challenges him.

I think it's something that comes with growing older, you realize the thrill alone in driving a fast car is typically better than constantly driving it to the edge.

dont' speak about what you have no idea about, everyone talks about these markups check out the gtr forums, those guys are not paying any dealer markups.

they also probably ordered theirs a while ago. dealer markups exist when someone walks in and tries to buy one without having ordered the car.

just because a few folks on an internet forum claim it isn't happening, doesn't mean that it isn't.

so I repeat your words. "Don't speak about what you have no idea about."

have you bought one? then you don't know either.

All im saying is everyone that i've seen write about buying one didn't pay a markup, and i've yet to hear about it..

i happen to andy (bluebatmobile) personally and he has a white GTR. i also met with several salesmen and they all have dealership markup

Danm, I dont know where your shopping for cars, But im never going there. As a former Dealership technician, The mark ups, even on the very quick cars arent anywhere near that steap of a markup. If I recal, One of the quicker cars in our old dealership only had about a 3k markup.

Man...Alll I hear in hear is Waaa....waaa...waaa.

Grow up people...all of you.

ive seen a few of these running around town now. all old people driving them too.

there is a local car show here that goes down every saturday. a couple weeks ago i was walking through the parking lot with my friend and we saw a guy pull up in one. he took the time to straighten the car out perfectly, and then got out. my friend asked him "so was it worth the wait?" and he snottly replied "uh yeah?"

then someone asked him "hey would you mind popping the hood?" and he sighed so loud like it was the biggest f-ing chore ever. "i guess so..." and popped it. seriously dont buy a BRAND NEW car that people are looking forward to seeing and not be expected to answer a couple questions here or there, or be a huge ass about it.

i've seen the same black gt-r a couple of times now in my area and its sweet looking car, havent really gotten a chance to see the driver yet, cuz i can never keep up with his ass

Lazybusinessman,
Im sure that guy was just putting on a show like hes the biggest badass. Its a nice car but its still not like hes driving a 150K+ car. Pretty sad. . . Anyway im sure there will be tons more on the streets in a few months.
