CX70 Turbo S P+ and CX50 Turbo S P+
I'll be coming up on a year with my Red CX-70 Turbo S Premium Plus in June and not long after that a year with our CX-50 Turbo S Premium Plus and we've had not a single issue with either car. This after having so many problems with two Genesis GV70, not the least of which was the engine on mine blew up at 850 miles in the first month of ownership.

This forum isn't all that active and that's honestly refreshingly TERRIFIC. It means people are out driving their Mazda's without needing to vent their frustrations on a public forum. I still get notifications of the horror stories befalling Genesis owners. I'm so grateful that nightmare is past and we're just driving our Mazda's without any issues!

I hope anyone who comes across this is doing well and you too are enjoying your Mazda!

Thanks sm1ke!

Question for you. Since you're a moderator, you've likely been around a while. Do you know when Mazda, typically drops over the air updates?

Wow, I don't believe it. I've been a member here for almost 9 years already lol. It sure doesn't feel that long!

Unfortunately I don't know too much about the OTA updates. I think you should be able to get an answer from the Service desk at your local dealership, or maybe directly from Mazda Corporate.

@Candurin, I know you're familiar with firmware updates on the older models, would you happen to have any insight for @RBrylawski regarding OTA updates?

Thanks. I checked with my dealer and they didn't know. I guess I'll contact Mazda Corporate as OTA updates would be rolled out by them. I had heard they typically come in the Spring, but that's not confirmed. And my car is optioned for OTA updates, but having never gotten one, I'm not sure if they download themselves, or I have to keep checking (which I do in Settings)?

There are ONLY two things I'd like to be able to chage:

1. Using Split Screen for Music on the Navigation screen, on the CX70 it isn't well implemented. By that I mean the music square doesn't cover the right side of the screen completely, which just looks off. In the CX50, it does cover the right side of the screen.

2. When using the built in map, there is no way (that I can find) to lock the view. When you get on an expressway, the map view zooms out considerably, which isn't objectionable. But when you get off the expressway, the map view should go back to unzoomed view, which it doesn't, thus forcing you to use the scroll wheel to unzoom the map view.

Little niggles of course. And I have provided feedback to Mazda to change this behavior. Whether they think it merits fixing, I have no clue.

@sm1ke I believe this question is around the newer generation units (versus the old ones, no?). I am only basing this on the fact the CX-50 and 70 are only newer units (as per @RBrylawski 's signature).

From what I gather, don't hold your breath for the OTA updates to actually register and be available on your vehicles. If you DM me with your current FW versions, I can send you the files you need to do it yourself (which is very easy to do and takes about 15 minutes each vehicle).

Side note, I see this thread is titled "lack of excitement"... Not sure I can provide any of that :ROFLMAO:

My CX70 is a 2025 and the CX50 2024. Both have the newest Infotainment systems and both are set up to receive OTA updates. I was told by Mazda that when one is available it will be delivered OTA. I'm just not sure when they typically release them.

Otherwise thank you for offering to send the files, but I really want to wait it out to see when and how OTA's work on the newest Mazda's.

@RBrylawski First of all, exciting thread topic! :ROFLMAO: I really appreciate and enjoy your enthusiasm and positive attitude.

Now allow me to clarify something…We’re definitely not here to be a soulless dumping ground for people to complain about their Mazda. You have the rest of the internet and social media for that lol, we’re here to enjoy the community and help each other.

I would love to see more CX-70/90 Owners join and post about enjoying their Mazda, spread the word @RBrylawski you know the Mazda experience is best here…Imagine all the Mazda owners who think their only choice for interaction with fellow Mazda owners is spam and hate infested social media or soulless forums with no sense of community. We’re probably one of the last truly independent Mazda Forums remaining and there’s a reason for that…We care! :giggle:

Please permit me to clarify. I'm sure if there were members who have issues, I feel they'd likely post them here. My point is most Mazda owners don't have anything to complain about. And that is what is exciting to me! You should visit some other independent forums for other manufacturers. They are positively littered with complaints about their cars, poor service from their dealers, etc. The independent Genesis forums, which I came from were nothing but horror stories. I lived a horror story with two failed GV70's.

I'm not suggesting this forum should be a souless dumping ground for people to complain. I'm saying how refreshing it is be part of a community where people have little to nothing to complain about at all!

I hear what you’re saying and I agree…While Mazda isn’t perfect, the majority of owners seem to be quite satisfied. What’s special about Mazda is they’re not just about transportation, they’re about the experience as well just like Mazdas247!

Exactly. And this forum is a very welcoming and positive place to be!

No complaints here. Our 2025 CX70 PP Plus S just turned over 3700 miles. What I'm really happy about is I'm averaging 30 mpg on regular gas. I started out with premium 93 but then tried 87 octane. No difference.

I'd be interested in knowing which engine your Genesis had.
I have a 2023 Stinger with the 3.3TT engine in it, and it has been fantastic so far.
Thanks.

Both of my failed GV70's were 2.5T Sport Prestige. The GV's overall suffer from electronic slip differential issues, but my second one, the engine blew up because Genesis cars are manufactured by robots, including the engines and at manufacture, a robot deposited an extra bold in the drive train, which blew through the drive train, engine block and transmission. It was deemed unfixable and what they wanted to do was build an engine from scratch at the dealership. My service manager said he had a technician who was excited because he'd never built a Genesis engine before. I refused and fought them for 6 months of horrible treatment from Genesis corporate to get the car bought back. I offered them the opportunity to just replace the car. I'd had it 4 weeks and it was totally their fault. They chose instead to fight me every step of the way, but ultimately, I got my money back. Hence why I'm so happy to be driving a Mazda!

Very happy to hear that! 🙏

This gave me an idea, you could try out our new Article option and post your complete comparison on the GV70 Vs CX-70. I think people would find that very interesting and informative. The option is available in most of our Forums including this one (CX-70/90).

I'll have to to give that some thought. The experience with Genesis was just so awful that sometimes it's just better to not bring back bad memories. But will think on this........
