Paint problem. Please help!!!

I have a 2007 Speed 6. Colour is snowflake white pearl.
Picked it up brand new in the beginning of October 2007. It was manufactured in June 2007 and was sitting on the dealer lot for about 3 month before I got it.
This winter it saw lots of snow/road salt in Toronto and I do NOT wash it frequently.
Yesterday I was washing my car and have noticed small orange dots on the front doors and on rear fenders . They do look like rust and rubbing hard with a wipe gets rid of some of them but not the others.

I was wondering if someone else has had this problem and whether proper waxing/polishing of the car will help get rid of those dots.

Please let me know! Thanks. (help)

This would be probably better placed in the general detailing forum. Have you tried clay barring your car? I'm still learning about detailing but it sounds like that is some minor surface oxidation. I'd go with either a clay bar or cleaner wax as my first step in fixing it.

Thanks for the input, guys!

The spots are random and a few inches in between but there are lots of them and they occur throughout at least 50% of front doors and lots more on the rear fender.

I've looked up the products suggested by you and it looks like scratch x is milder than the clay bar in its effect.
Would the full wax be required after using any of those or applying them on a clean car is sufficient?

Also, do you know if this is common to Speed 6? or just white cars in general?
I've had nothing like it on my red Mazda 3 ...

P.S. I'm not sure how to move this thread to a general area ... (dunno)

couple things dude. 1) You gotta make an attempt to wash your car more during the winter. You give me 35-40 degrees with sun and no wind, I'm out washing the car. 2) Claybar doesn't work 100% with those spots, at least not for me. 3) I would, wash the car, scratch-x after it dries, wash again, claybar, then apply a good coat of wax.

what scratchX is doing is removing the clearcoat around the rust marks/embedded fallout and that is whats removing them.

what you need is a more aggressive claybar if the marks arent coming out.

ive found meguiars clay to be a bit milder compared to mothers clay so you might want to try that. (clay magic clay ive found to be just as mild, and these are the only 3 OTC clay products i know of)

cleaner wax is not the same as scratchX. what a cleaner wax does is remove extremely fine scratches (emphasis on extremely) and is more for the use of removing the previous layer of wax (the cleaning part)

honestly you probably only need to clay. needlessly removing clearcoat isnt necessary.

its not rust its iron deposits from the calcium or something they use to salt the roads...if ud wash your car more often during the winter ud never see it. a good claybar and rewax and buff job would get the job done.

I also live in Toronto and freaked out when I saw the 'rust' spots on my car this spring. I removed them with a clay bar as some others have suggested.

This is the first time I've ever seen this on any car. I suspect the rust was coming from the rotors or the calipers. My calipers when from silver to rust over the winter. I've since painted them. I'm hoping that I don't see spots next year.

Before winter sets in, find a certified detailer that can poly-coat your car. I can get it done with a full detail for about 200 dollars. If you detail it first before the detailer gets there, he'll probably cut you a good deal since it only takes about 20 minutes to apply.

I too have a Whitewater Pearl '06 Speed6, and had the same issue. Lots of little spots from not washing enough in the winter. I used the new Turtle Wax Ice Liquid Clay Bar. Its a pain to scrub it down, but it works and wont remove the clearcoat. It might take a few applications, but mine now looks great. It will be washed much more often this winter to prevent it from coming back.
