Almost a newbee with pricing questions....

Hi All,
I hope I am posting this in the right section. I am ready to buy a Sunlight Silver Mazda5 GT with black leather & navi but there are non to be found anywhere near me (92677). Actually, I dont think there are any in California at all at this point. (dunno)

I'll kep looking, but my real question is on dealer invoice pricing and what others have already paid on an '08 Grand Touring (either with or without navigation as that is easy to figure out). As far as I can tell, there is not factory to dealer incentives to be discovered this early in the year. Any feedback from those that have already bought an '08?

Thanks (drinks)

Well, if you find something already on the dealer's lot, odds are you're going to get invoice if you haggle them.

If you tell a dealer what you're looking for specifically, chances are they can find one on another dealer's lot, even from quite a distance away (my mom's Camry came of a Philly dealer's lot... 2 hours away from Harrisburg). Now you're starting to get them to do leg work for you so they're gonna be less willing to bend over backwards for invoice.

Finally, you can order your car fresh off the assembly line in Japan exactly how you want it. This is what I did. Be warned however, for some reason back in June '06, I had to wait 4 full months until the beginning of Oct '07 to take delivery of my 2007. The waiting time may not be as bad now, but definitely check first. As far as pricing, you could look at this two ways... on the one hand, this is ideal for the dealer because they just punch the order into the computer and when it arrives on the lot it's already sold, cuts overhead off the top and it's their easiest kind of sale, which means they should be able to give you a deal. However, on the other hand, you're not doing them the benefit of moving cars off their lot, so perhaps they'll try to get closer to MSRP outa ya. I got somewhere right down the middle.

I know this doesn't really answer your question specifically, but perhaps gave some points to consider? Good luck :D

well. i used dealer quotes by emails to get my M5. (wiggle)

i spent about 1.5 days to exchange e mails from local dealers
and here is what i did, once i got the best quote, i email it to other dealers.
if other dealer match/beat the deal, i again sent it out to other dealers.

it requires some time and efforts to do this... but at the end it was worth it..

i got my sport auto with popular equipment package(Side sill extenstion and rear spoiler minus 6 CD changer) for 18700 Out the door

i think, that is way below invoce..(wiggle)(thumb)

Thanks guys - Dealers here in southern California are a bit more stubborn about what they quote. They all quote invoice at best and when I ask about incentives or hold back they just skirt the issue or mumble that there isnt anything (yeah, right). Ordering one doesnt seem to help. They know they are low on inventory around here for now. I'm sure by the end of the year, they will be much more flexible, but I don't want to miss out on the combo I am looking for (2008 Grand Touring in Sunlight Silver with black leather & navigation). The out the door info on the '08 sport is good to know. If anyone can chime in on what they paid for ANY 2008 (especially a Grand Touring) please add to this thread. It should be helpful to all others who are price shopping. If there is any other 2008 pricing threads that I missed, please let me know.

I'm also from socal. I didn't do my homework and so I got mine (sport-galaxy gray) for $18,300 . The next day, my aunt got an internet quote for only $17,500 for the same model (sad2) and was told the price can still be lowered if you just haggle with them. My first time buyer mistake!

I suggest do what dreamym5 did. Email all dealers in your area so you can have the best deal!

I think you meant plus 6 CD Changer, right? That is part of the Popular Package (scratch)...

Just picked up my 2008 Mazda5 GT Black with Navi, Homelink and Remote Start and paid "dealer invoice", BTW - I ordered the car well over 4 months ago! Getting tint and lowered w/H&R on Monday.

Looks like their offering some decent financing (5.9%) and lease deals (something about $1250 rebate).

do you want to hear a funny story.. ^^

You read it "right" it is minus 6CD changer..(lol)

Long story short.. i wanted to get Sport with popular equipment package but the dealer did not have the car in stock . Only cars they had was Sport without PEP^^

They gave me two options, wait a day or two for Sport with PEP for $19200.
or take the Sport withtout PEP for $19000 "and" sales manager said he will "add" PEP later for free. Yes.. he will order body kit(side sil/ rear spoiler/6Cd changer) and install it for me :D

Then i said to him, since i am IPOD gen, (also did not like them to open up my radio/display pannel anyway), i just needed body kit "but" the 6 CD changer.. Sale manager gave me additional $300 discount and that is how i got the car for $18700 OTD

I just got a call, my side sill/rea spoiler is coming early next week(dance)

^^ Got it. As a matter of fact it makes sense. My 06 also came with the Popular Package and my wife loves the 6CD player. On my side I prefer the Aux input, but hey, I already loaded some CDs as well. The only weird stuff I found is that the 08 with the Popular Package has the piano black dashboard radio faceplate vs. the aluminum finish, Sport at last, but don't know why.

The 2 dealers I have purchased from in my area are not as flexible with the Mazda5 and ordering OEM parts yet it seems, I wanted the OEM fogs for the 08 as well but after I heard the turnaround times I just decided to negotiate on the spot a better deal, my priority has been MT over anything else, and it is a rarity where I live, so the sooner I saw it the faster I tried to get the deal. It was the only 08 Mazda5 in the lot (all lonely next to a couple of new Ford trucks). When I bought the 06 there were another 3, but all ATs (and one was green), no good.

But back on topic, I don't remember the 08 $$ to the cent as I had a trade-in (Hondas hold very good value, that I will accept) but it was around $18,200 I believe. 08, Sport MT with Popular Package. Free oil change for life while owning it and other freebies as I now take my 2 cars for service with that dealer.

price quotes for 5 in Maine

Hi,

We're on the verge of becoming 5 owners, with the purchase of a 2008 AT Touring (Silver). Here in Maine the 5 is a slow seller. There are as many 2007s around as 2008s.

Here are the lowest prices I've been offered on Touring AT models:

2008: invoice - $800 + $300 doc fee = $19,800
2007: yadayada + $300 doc fee = $17,800
(2007 has remote start option)

Do these both sound reasonable? What would you expect?

Thanks!

I think those sound pretty reasonable. We bought out '07 Sport AT in October at Invoice ($19, 995) but 5s are hard to come by in these parts. The real question is which version? I have seen the '08s and the armrests and 5-speed auto are nice, but $2000 buy a lot of gasoline, even at today's crazy prices! Hopefully you can get a comfortable price.

The dealer will not sell at a loss. So you will not extract blood regardless of the deal. Ask yourself if it works for you, and then either do it or don't.

I picked up my '08 Touring MT for $18,500 last week. (plus destination)
They offered me 4.95% interest for 60mos but I already had 4.9% through capitalone so I stuck with it.
