2007 MAZDASPEED3 Engine Mount Bolt Safety Recall 4607F

Thanks guys, I didn't understand what n/c and fs meant so I wasn't sure. But I suspected it was only the bolt they replaced although the service advisor said they did the mount as well. Oh well, as long as it's fixed.

There is another guy on here saying that they have a new tranny mount that used 2 bolts instead of one and they replaced his. I have never heard of this and its not in the recall letter so what is he talking about?

The dealer replaced my bolt, invoice says the mount was OK. Took about an hour, so I trust that they actually removed & inspected the mount. The engine seems to stay put a bit better, but maybe it's all in my head.

I thought they were pretty on top of things, too, until I heard a little rattle from the engine bay, stopped in a parking lot & found the hood prop was not put back correctly. So they don't get "very satisfied" on the survey they send out. Easy enough to write down why, also.

They snapped my battery lid wrong and it wasnt on all the way, lol.

Lazy asses!

I hope he did a good job of the bolt because I dont want to go back in there and look at it again. I saw him in there and when i realized he wasnt talkative I left him alone to do his job. I will just have to trust its all ok and if not its on them x2 for not doing it correctly.

i just dropped mines off this morning, the dealer stated they didnt have the part and it may need to stay over the weekend. that sux since im now driving a NEON! whack!

I was thinking the whole time about the battery tray, battery cover, because it's a lot of little pieces. It sucks that I couldn't bring the car to my mechanic, because he is very careful compared to dealers. Hell, he even torques all lugnuts by hand.

Not to knock the mechanics at dealers, but the demands placed on them by management are often unrealistic, not giving them enough time. Time. Time is what we need but time is something we don't have!

Anyway, I can watch out for my own hood prop but I didn't figure I'd have to look under the hood so quickly after a dealer visit.

Neons, snapped battery covers, and rattling hood props. Sorry to hear about that neon.. Last rental I had was a f*cking Trailblazer! I was embarassed to even have it in my driveway.

After it goes anywhere I look closely at what they did first then door dings before I leave. I tell them that the car is flawless which it is before I drop it off and there best not be scratches or dings. I also ask to NOT have it washed, lol.

When I asked the Tech he said the old bolt and mount were fine and nothing wrong so he made it seem like the upgrade bolt was pointless in my situation but I seen him in there so I am sure he did it. There were a few cars in before me so it was old news by the time I went in. Since mine checked out to be fine just stock the new botl could only make it better so what ever no worries anymore.

called my dealer (putnam mazda) and said I wanted the recall work done on my car. They said sure, offered me an appointment within 2 days. I went and waited while they did it (rental was offered, but the dealer is a bit of a drive). Nice service manager, bad coffee, good over all experience.

Felt no different driving home other than some *cough* slightly spirited driving.

Read this post this morning... drove to a dealership at noon... bolt was replaced an hour later. No hassles or questions.

I wasn't aware of this recall, and I just bought a MS3 GT on 07/12. The dealer didn't say anything about it although my VIN falls within the specified range.

I'll be calling them in the morning to see what was done about it prior to sale, if anything.

I find this notice interesting, in the letter to the dealers: "The National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act prohibits the delivery of any subject vehicle without performing the necessary repair for defects or failures. Failure to perform applicable recalls before delivery can result in extensive dealer fines and penalties from the federal Government. Therefore, you must complete this recall for all affected vehicles in your inventory prior to delivery."

Cross your fingers that they didnt and tell them you want that CAI and CBE for free or ask where you should file the report to, lol.

Took mine in this morning and picked it up right before lunch. My bolt was replaced and I must say, it's makes quite a noticeable difference. The whole feel of shifting gears is much smoother now.

I made an appointment on saturday and took mine in on monday. The guy on the phone knew right away what I was talking about as soon as I mentioned MS3 recall. Told me they had one replacement mount and bolt kit available

Went in monday, almost exactly one hour later it was done. Service tech said that my stock bolt was torqued to spec and there was no damage to anything. He did put in the 'upgraded' bolt, but didn't replace the mount.

Oddly, as Madozodi mentioned, the car felt different... I can't put my finger on it... maybe like the drivetrain is moving around less... shifting did feel a tiny bit less vague... I dunno. If it really was different, it's a very very small difference.

At any rate, just glad that I don't have to worry about my engine falling out of the car anymore...

or... do I???

dun dun dunnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

You should have a sticker somewhere under your hood stating there was a campaign on your car. This will verify that the recall work was done.

If they did the work before it got to your dealer, there should be a sticker on the rear passenger side of the engine compartment. It will look like this:
