Water Injection Kit

it helps to hold off detonation by cooling the intake charge

i've also heard it releases the Oxygen when heated like Nos
but i believe thats not EXACTLY the reason for its bennefits

...hey '2oo35, whats with your valves, what size are they
my cams are comming and i need to get my head ready for it

All of the horsepower would come from being able to tune for more boost and/or more tolerance for leaner air/fuel ratios due to the cooler intake temps.

not very effective on a stock setup
a FMIC is a better use of money to get a cooler intake charge

i wouldnt say so.

ive had fmic and an injection kit.

injection kit can be made to be much more effective especially when you start adding methenol into the mix. Nothing beats chemical intercooling. period. theres a reason cars running on methenol boost 30psi.. its just that most people how no idea on how to properly setup the kit or how to tune it for optimum results.

Here is how you would do it to a near stock msp.

1. buy injection kit.
2. buy fuel controller for stock injectors
3. buy J and S ignition
4. Get a nice big needle for the injection kit.
5. Make sure you have a good flowing exhaust.

Tune the car first at stock boost no injection. See how much you can lean the car out before the J and S starts pulling timing. this is your 1st map. save it on a disk,

Now turn the injection on. I did not find it necessary to be on until I hit 8+psi with the stock intercooler. Now that the injection kit is spraying just water in do a run and see if the J and S pulls timing. Odds are it wont since the intake temps, cylinder head temps and combustion temps will be lower. Once again tune to see what kind of a/f you can safely pull off before the J and S starts pulling timing.

Basically repeat working from rich to lean 1psi higher at a time, slowly building up your non injection map and your injection map so that they are nicely tuned.

Then tune all over again, this time subtracting 1 degree of timing per pound of boost. Do this maybe up to 3 degrees and you should have a fantastic map.

Now whenever you are driving you car just think about what kind of fuel you are using, say one day you wanna drive with 91 octane and just water injection, use the map that would correspond to that fuel. Then say on the weekend you run 94 pump gas + octane additive + 90% methenol in your injection needle, just switch maps and you are good to go.

I stopped at 1bar. Detroyed the stock LSD and transmission in one night at 1bar. going 100kmph put the car in 3rd gear from a smooth roll and it will start peeling out and heavy torque steer. Very very very fun.

Now you can inject water or a mix or water/chemicals. The more methenol you put in the less of a chance of detonation and the lower the intake, cyl head and combustion temps will be. The pump will have an adjustment screw on it so that it is pumping harder/less hard at the same boost kinda thing, use this to help tune the amount being injected as well. Work from rich to lean, keep your eyes on the J and S and WB02. Say you are at 12psi injecting and the J and S starts pulling a few degrees of timing, go adjust the pump so that its working a little harder, rerun the car and see what happens kinda thing. Everyone here will tell you not to boost past 10psi, me and other have boosted 1bar fine but theres no ******* around at that point you gotta be ontop of everything or your motor will grenade quite quickly.

With chemical intercooling you can achieve over 100% efficiency, best ive seen a fmic here do is in the high 70s.

this is not for everyone, especially the inexperienced so if you didnt understand that dont buy the kit, get a fmic.

DO NOT USE METHENOL INJECTION AS A BAND AID FOR POOR TUNING.

OTHER THEN THAT (2thumbs) (dance) (iagree)

very true
good point

more what i was thinking
you obviously got your stuff together

big ups to ya

they want their thread back

funny reading my own post from 5 years ago. Now a days I would not reccommend it at all for a street car. There are much easier/better/safer ways of making more power and buying chemicals to mix gets old after a few years.

Now I would reccommend to Just get bigger injectors, a proper ems, some great tuning with safe afrs and forget about the time and money spent trying to get a few more degrees of timing or a psi or 2 more of boost from an undersized turbo.

not to mention relying on a kit that could clog without proper maintenace and cause detonation which can fubar your motor up if you do not keep an eye on it all the time.

For a non street car I still think its great, just annoying to get right/keep filled with chemicals/clean out all the time.
