Update on my MPI Tuner!

:) Thanks guys, you rock!!! I'll check it tomorrow morning. Acid you're at 2, and Pat you're at 1 now? What exactly does it mean? And where should I be persay?

That depends on how rich you are running. If you are running really rich aka 10's & ll's a/f..than you need to pull fuel inorder to reach your proper a/f ratio. Well by lowering the Analog fuel cal..you shift the fuel curve. Lower numbers (1, 2 & 3) means leaner..and Bigger numbers (4, 5, 6) mean richer.

Here are my new maps..Yeap they look backwards but the car runs like a champ.

ahah thanks for the info- I'm going to do a lot of tuning this weekend. I just wish my wastegate was working right so I could corretly set when my switch comes on. When we originally set it- the wastegate was working fine. But now I'm not reaching boost untgil an extra 1K or so.... But it's wierd- the car seems to be runnign really good. Good consistent rich A/f's and no detonation (that I can hear). I need to post screen shots of these maps so I can get some input.

Thanks again!

Damn dude, that does look backwards. It just shows how much fuel the new TM does add. I think I'll stay with what I got. I have the xtra injectors to give me any extra fuel I may need. For those who don't want to go that route, this is an awesome new feature for the unit.

can you send me a log file? I dont know how to use the AEngTemp.

Mine moves from top to the bottom when applying load...is that normal?

Yes it will move from the top to bottom. You need to go to the sensor calibration on the tool bar. Calibrate it so at idle you are in the top box. Then set the third box to see the onset of boost. Set the very bottom box to see your max boost. Now you will be able to fine tune your fuel based on boost load.

If the wastegate is leaking you would have high boost and it should come in a little faster. How much preload is on the wastegate rod?

Stock injectors, stock fuel pump, no FMU, stock fuel pressure, no extra injectors, no fuel cut and upto 12psi. We need to dyno this car. You must be near 240whp. Great job tuning.

I don't htink the wastegate is leaking- more the opposite. I'm unsure on the stock preload for the rod- I'm guessing 6 or 7 lbs. It's just not hte right legnth. Witht he end piece screwed all the way in I was making 10 psi.. But at theis legnth it fit perfectly onto the flapper. Right now at 8 psi it seems the arm is a little long and is keeping the flapper open a tad- so that's where the leak seems to be.

I'm trying to just get the wastegate that came with my turbo but Innovative turbos has some pretty bad customer service. I've sent two emails and left a message and not a response in over a week.

I'll get down in there tomorrow and play with it a bit more- the downside to testing the wastegate is that you have to take it for testdrives and then let the car cool before taking it apart and testing it again. :( Damn Integral wastegates!

Thanks..it's been very ruff. Be still needs more tuning. I still wanna pull a little more fuel when i initially hit boost. so i will have to go down to 1 on my Analog fuel Cal.

I don't think i am at 240hp..But def over 200hp.

Chas, can you post or email me your maps? I'd print out what you have and just change mine but I don't have a printer at home, doh! I'm curious to see if this setup may work for me. It seems we're somewhat similar in our mods- turbo's are different and I have an intank fuel pump, but other than that we're similar. I'm at 8-9psi.

Thanks!!! I aleady had the image though, I was hoping for the actual map file.

I have a garret T303

Other things to keep in mind
- no fmu
- no extra injectors
- stock injectors
- walbro intank fuel pump (capable of 120psi or so)
- Large FMIC

The intank is gonna give you a more fuel over the oem fuel pump. But you should easily be able to tune it.

With large fmic you probly won't need as much timing pulled as i do. But it's better to be safer than sorry.

Hey chas, is there any way you could send me the actual map files? Also, if not, could you send me a pic of what your ignition map looks like?

Update: I changed to Chas's fuel map and the car seems to run very smooth!@!! Didn't feel any jerk in my test drive at all!! I also switched the switch point to come on at .64 it was at .75... This crazy map could actually work very well :) The only two things I noticed that were' good was my idle (in the 16-17 range) and the detonation I was hearing.

I didn't ever get a chance to see what his ignition map looked like though. And it looks like I'll have to adjust mine a bit because I was hearing a lot of detonation on my test drive. Does anyone know how much timing he was pulling?
