Update on my MPI Tuner!

Is anyone here having problems in first gear with the A/f ratios going crazy and off the charts? Sorry if this is a thread jack.

But onthe gas issue. Out here in Phoenix 91octane is as good as we get. Fortunately we're about 2,000 feet above sea level so that helps, but the addition of torco gas additive has helped a bunch if you guys havent' checked it out do it! you can get it here http://www.need4speedpower.com/gtafuel.html

Also luckily Beau of MAM showed me an air field not far from wher eI live that you can go get 101 octane for only 2.60 a gallon. Have to do it at night or you et in trouble but it's worth it!!! Running a 50/50 mix of that and 101 is ideal. :)
A little off topic, but I used to live in phoenix (awataukee) at the corner of S. 48th St. and Chandler and there was a gas station east of 48th st. (I think east, away from 10) right next to the Checkers and sonic and they had 100+ octane gas you could pump. I used to get it for my 4-wheeler before we went riding. Not sure of the exact octane , but it was 100 or so. Check it out.

Ahaha holy s***, I livedin Tukee too off 44th and warner. I now live in Gilbert.

But ya that gas station is owned by Saad Saad- the guy with the 997 HP supra and many other cars- so he has one pump of high octane gas. It's 104 trick unleaded race gas. Unfortunately it's not $4.99 a gallon....

I'll just keep going to the air field and get 101 for $2.65 :)

I prolly saw you around man. I used to see a yellow MP3 int he shopping center where the Alltel is and Ultimate Electronics.

That was me!!! I worked for Cricket in the switch(off 40th St on cotton center Blvd), and was looking for turbo's at that time, but the only thing I could get done was to have apex motorsports in tempe do me a custom one but I didn't want to throw down the coin at that time. Wish I knew about MAM at that time!!!!

Well finally installed my EBC. Will have to dial it in tonite..with any luck..i will be pushing 7-8psi!

Chas

Well..i had nothing but bad luck w/ the EBC..it's still installed.but not doing anything. I was told i need another bleeder...

But i got bored of that..so i decided to make my own MBC.

Went to home depot...and found everything i needed.

Well..when i first dialed it in. I was pushing 10psi (Probably more but i let off the gas).
Within 1 hr. I got it dialed into 8psi. It's been raining here in nj. so i got wet couple times.

The only problem is how it's spiking. I need to drill a small hole into the mbc to relieve some of the pressure the wastegate is seein.

But i must say..at 10psi..the car was pullin hard and tires were spinnin.

Chas

Good Luck and beware of those MBC.

tires spinning means lots of power and probably lean if you dont check the A/F so beware of that too....car runs stronger when lean.

Actaully..Before i started messing around with my MBC. I increased the amount of fuel..so that my a/f ratios were at 11.6.

So when i bumped up the boost. The car was still bogging down..but than it took off.

I will be doing some more testing today.

Chas;)

can you share your map..? i need to test this, i double checked all my wirings and everything is fine. If the map is right, and my wiring is right, it should work, at least for a start it would work. If not, then my problem may be:
\
1. mechanical..or...
2. sensors...

Well...After some more testing of turbo module and sensors..at modern performance..I have everything situated. The car is running beautifully. No bogging down. I removed the inline fuel pump..for now..

Here are the new maps. I would be careful with them. I have a smaller turbo than you do.

Whats you Fuel Zero Calibration...looks like a 4-6

Boost switch is set to come on at 63. On the old t3 is was ~66.

I'm fixing to go down to the garage and start installing the updated TM box, and see what happens from there.

Expect to be runnin pig Rich. Give yourself atleast 1 hour to tune the onset of boost. B/c you will see 10's a/f!

Chas

Well did some really extensive tuning.

Pulled my Analog Fuel cal from 4 to 2.

My numbers all seam backwards..but the car is runnin much better and faster..infact i have been even reaching higher boost now i am at 10.5 psi.

My a/f is now 11.6-12.6.

Chas

Ok I'm going to finally break and ask it...I've messed with the software probably 5 times now and I'm still confused what you guys mean when you say you pull or set the "fuel Cal"... Where in the analog map are you talking about? The 8X16? Sorry for my lack of knowledge.

You need to click Global Settings..It's on the Tool bar. Than click on the Analog Tab.

And you will see this!

Hit your Global Settings menu, and then hit the Analog tab. The 1st slider bar at the top is what you seek!
