Strut bad at 38k??

Hello,

I'm new to the forum and to my mazda5. Just bought an '08 a week ago with 37,500 miles on it and I'm getting a knocking noise from the front left when going over bumps. It seems to be getting worse quickly. I talked to the guy i bought it from and he said that he noticed some slight knocking noise when the car was cold but that it went away when it warmed up from driving. Is that consistent with a strut problem? If this is the problem should i just have it replaced with an OEM part, or upgrade to something so that it doesn't wear out so quickly? Thanks in advance for any help.

Hummmm....

Read this:

and do a search for Mazda 5 TSB or Mazda 5 Technical Service bulletins.

there is an issue with the cowling making a thumping noise too, so we cant over the internet diagnose your mazda 5, sorry I failed mental telepathy in school. :)

There is a cheat sheet (TSB) on how to take off the cowling and fix it, OR can be done under MANUFACTURER RECALL, by the way have you taken your USED Mazda 5 to the local Mazda dealer and asked "What recall, services, etc for FREE need to be done to my Mazda 5?"

You'll be amazed at what they say.... (thought)

Peace!(rei)

thanks for the info. I had already read the thread you put a link to but i don't think my symptoms are the same. I will take it to the local Mazda dealer and see what they say about recalls.
