Since to get the moonroof I had to get the 6-disc in-dash deal. I want a better system but I don't want to change the head unit. I was wondreing if there was any way to amp it and add subs. Let me know.
yes, serach on it. There is more info on this board for that exact mod then you can imagine.
BUt basicly just get an amp with speaker levels to make it easier to integrate. 5 channel amps are very easy to use for your aplication. A 4channel can also be used to drive the front speakers and a sub. Seperate amps isn't out of the question either.
Maybe you can try a high quality adapter (the N-774V in the link below) that can give you more adjustability, noise rejection and a better signal level down to your amp. This kind of adapter will increase your car stereo expenses, but if those variables mentioned sound good to you, that may be a good option...

Yes you can....I did that very upgrade.....I have the same head unit you do...and like the 6 disc indash.....I added an Alpine V-power 5 channel amp....upgraded all the door speakers, and added a nice sup to the back....I love it....and I did not use any special adapters...or line lever converters.....and there is 0 noise induced into my system, the amp itself has adjustable outputs to each channel, and all in all the system sounds great.
so some searches and if you don't find the information you are looking for and want more...either shoot me a PM or an email throught the board and I will help you out with all the information I have....I just helped another member in Austrailia do this very mod via email as well.
As I mentioned, the speaker to RCA adapter is just another option, but since Sir Nuke already had success with the Alpine 5-ch amp, I would recommend to go with the same set up...
It's better to go with something already tried and performing well, than start testing with your money and products that may or may not work as good as Sir Nuke's set up.
From experience I can tell you not all the amplifier brands out there use quality high-level input circuits, so it's nice to know someone already had success with something specific...
