Sport 20

I personally like the US-Spec 323 (which is what the Protege and Sport 20 technically are - if you look a bit more, last year's Sport 20 was a 323 Sportwagon)...maybe "euro" rear lamps would look nice.

There is someone that went to Japan and bought a bunch of replacement badges and some other accessories and made it "close" to J-spec...

You will need the front clip of a 99-2000 protege sedan (front fenders and headlights). The hood should be the same. And corksport sells that front bumper cover and the badges. I think that is it. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Well since I've done the conversion Ill let you know what you need to do.

Fenders
Hood (they are not the same as P5/MP3 hoods)
Bumper
Taillights
headlights/turn-signals
FS-ZE motor
Rear badge garnish
Side door garnish...I think thats it.

They made the Sport 20 in 99+ in wagon form (pic you supplied)
Then they made them with the new P5 front end
Then also a Sport 20 sedan which looks like an MP3

Mine is a 99 sedan with the 99 (older) Sport 20 front end conversion. Here is a link if you wanna check it out http://www.cardomain.com/id/sport20

If you have any further ?'s feel free to ask.

Now all it needs is BOOST! (laugh)

If you want to truly be J-spec you have to have the J-spec tail lights. The ones on the a-spec car will fit but they are not the same. the J-specs are two separate beams whereas the a-spec uses h4's in other words just one light

I really like the lower grill. Your site said it is hard to find...is it still?

BTW, melicha8, "custom intake"? CAI?? How did you build it?

Linux...funny

melicha8...are you taking about the tail lights or the headlights? You will need to get both to do the swap correctly.

L8R...is correct. You will needs lots of money.

sal002...I got the lip from Boomplus toys. I did it during a group buy. They got it but it cost a little more than the MP3/p5 ones. I believe I paid about $800 US for it in the end with shipping etc. Not cheap and it'll be the only one I get. Not replacing it if it gets messed up.

Good luck if you decide to do it!

upsman has the most complete JDM protege coversion on these boards and on all others. sweet stuff =D

his list is all you need. hey upsman...whats the difference between the hoods?

i am waiting for JDM tails, but now i mostly have oem japanese dealer options.

more reference, navigation will be hard:

The main difference in the hood is the part where it outlines the headlights. Different shapes on the 99-00 compared to the 01+ as you can imagine. Also the creases/ridges in the hood are different for sure. Thats why all of us with 99-00 pros cant just buy a Carbon fiber hood for a P5 and use it on our cars.

hey

just so you are aware, that piccy is the older sport 20 - the BJ series. the newer sport 20 is very very very similar to the US P5 - the BJII series. in australia, our P5 (323 Astina SP20) is almost identical to the BJII sport 20. the only difference is the cams and intake manifold...the rest is exactly the same

later
